Panel State profiles for the J41

Featured Replies

Is it possible for the J41 to support panel state modes, such as cold & dark? I'm getting tired of having to load the plane and going through shutdown so I can then start my flight.Otherwise, a simply superb simulation. I'm a proud owner.Isaac Magalhaes

Issac,We're considering adding a Cold and Dark switch to the panel in SP1. Are you aware though that you can save an FS flight with it all shut down and everything will be the same when you load that? You don't need to go through the shutdown every time... A full panel state save thing with FMS route saving etc is beyond the scope of this product though and would have added very significant development time and cost too it, so I'm afraid that won't be happening, at least in the way it is on the more expensive airliner products.

Thanks for the reply Ryan. That would make everything much simpler, because even if I save a flight with the J41 shutdown, I'll still have to reload the weather, time, and location, which is a pain. Honestly, I don't mind it, because its such a pleasure to fly; nevertheless, it would be an improvement.

And it removes the start latches as well! Real PITA so what I do now is save the flight at each place I land and continue from there. A panel load option, like the other PMDG aircraft would be the ideal!FRED

I just start the flight normal engines running, then quickly go through the shutdown checks, it takes me under 30 sec's now, and Im ready cold and dark

A saved situation does not remove the start latches. When you save the situation, you simply need to make sure you leave the props on the start latches.Even if you had a panel state profile, you'd still have to load the sim, move to your starting location, initialize the weather, and so on. What you're really asking for is the ability to start from Free Flight, and as has been pointed out here and on other forums, that's just not a good idea. There are elements of FSX that are only initialized properly when starting the sim with a default aircraft.

I've been curious about that. I've seen the traffic about starting not from free flight. I've never had any real problems loading directly from free flight into any of the other PMDG aircraft, but I'm wondering if certain random things would work better if I loaded the 172 first and then switched to say the 744. And, what are those things that might work better? Or, is this just a J41 issue. As for the rest of this. I saved a flight called J41 cold and dark. I haven't really had any problems loading it and then moving the airplane to where I want.

With me, each time I loaded a saved state, start latches were engaged as per previous flight, then when I move to the new location, ala FSX menu, start latches will now be disengaged!FRED

Fred,What are you doing to change locations? If I start with a saved flight, say at YPMQ, and wait until the situation is fully loaded, then move to another airport (YSTW, for example), the plane arrives in the same state as when it was initialized in YPMQ. You do need to wait until the plane is fully initialized -- at least five or ten seconds -- before moving to a new airport.
