A330/40 questions

Featured Replies

The A330/A340 package from PSS looks appealing. How well are systems simulated? Is there any other addon that compares in the amount of detail the avionics are in? Can anybody recommend it? Any warnings/cautions before I buy it?how does it compare to the CLS A340s?thanks

Hi, I'm amazed you haven't had any input on this one, thought there would be a skyfull of A330 pilots out there, anyway I bought PSS A340 Professional a few years ago and I still haven't had the time to get fully conversant with the package. I tend to make flights in and around smaller airports in NE US so use more commuter types however I can say that in my opinion PSS is what I would think is quite realistic. There is a big manual to read which tells you about all the systems, but I would have liked some easy operating settings included, although these can be found trawling other sources. The instrumentation is very good but like a lot of cockpits/panels not all switches and knobs work, but there is enough to keep you studying. The MCDU is very good, especially as a tutoring source, press and hold Ctrl/Windows on your keyboard lets you operate the onboard keys, and you also get some nice planes to fly. Is it the best, I don't know, but I'm glad I have it, it helps the brain, and there is the usual easy start-up if you don't want to spend a lot of time in the cockpit before take-off. Cheers.

Slightly OT, but what's the correct website address for PSS? http://www.phoenix-simulation.co.uk/ seems a dead-end.

What is OT, if you mean "over the top" how else do you review something without words. I have Bing'd your question and found the answer here - http://flyawaysimulation.com/article2327.html. Looks like the fire has gone out !!!
Yes its sad they have been in flightsim for awhile, if anyone is looking for the pss a320 a340 the only ones that sell it is justflight http://www.justflight.com/product.asp?pid=253

Apologies for not understanding OT, perhaps just spelling out the words may help, forums are read by many people who may not understand, like me.Only joking, TTFN.

No worries, I shouldn't use vague acronyms, my bad. Thanks for the link. I heard PSS had a nice A320 which I was keen to try. I have the Wilco but it's quite frame heavy on my PC. Airsimulations have one coming out at some point soon, guess we'll have to wait for that.

The Airsimmer A320? 'It was coming out 'soon' in 2007. Or was that 2006? They've even given up providing updates on progress. Not how I'd run things if it was my project..

One the site (and elsewhere on this forum) it was said that there would be no more updates as the plane has now gone into final beta testing. I'm awaiting it eagerly, i've been soooooooo disappointed with both the Wilco and the CLS offerings (they have various airbus') because the VC (and in truth, the 2D) in both is just soo crappy, IMHO. Anyway, back to topic (BTT) :-)

Yes I know. It's been in final beta testing since May.. :( But why not tell us how final beta testing is going? Surely a few lines on their site each month isn't too much to ask? I just think a little bit of communication here would do their standing amongst future customers no harm at all. Sorry, OT I know :( Ian
