September 28, 200916 yr Hi there! Which is more real?Certainly you would get different opinions, sometimes contradictory. VOX users will have diffrerent opinions than RC users. There are a lot of posts on ATC addons here in the Forum. If you do some search, you will get a lot of interesting and informative reading. Is it like vatsim or IVAO?VATSIM and IVAO are realtime networks based on human factor, so you cannot make such a comparison.Emergencies etc are they handled like in vatsim?Emergencies should not be declared while flying with VATSIM (don't know about IVAO).Although sometimes you will be allowed to have an emergency landing, you will more often be asked to disconnect.Especially during any kind of fly-ins.
September 28, 200916 yr Author Yea I know, but I dont wanna play near ATC all the time. And default ATC is way unreal. Which one do you think is overall better?
September 28, 200916 yr None of them is real. If you want real thing, than go online. Vatsim or Ivao, choice is yours. But if you prefer flying with FS ATC, than go for "Edit Voice Pack", it's free, and at least ATC use real phraseology. And most of the companys got real call signs, not just numbers. Those two you mentioned, are kinda, sound retarded, if i may say. Default ATC, with "Edit Voice Pack", still sound like "human", but those two is like speaking with robots, which is annoying after a couple of flights. My Specification: I CAN RUN FSX IN MAX SETTINGS....i don't care about dell, bell, amd, intel, 60000 wats power supply or alien made graphic card....

I fly vatsim all the time. I have like 500hrs on the network, but i'll always be pinned to flying near ATC. This is the problem. I will check out Edit Voice Pack though...
September 28, 200916 yr I fly vatsim all the time. I have like 500hrs on the network, but i'll always be pinned to flying near ATC. This is the problem. It's a BIG problem, and the number one reason iI do not fly at VATSIM. Your navigation options are severely limited if you want to keep human ATC.
September 28, 200916 yr Your navigation options are severely limited if you want to keep human ATCReally, Chris? I don't know where (from/to) you usually fly but if it is Europe or the USA, there are a lot of active controllers almost every evening.Add various fly-ins, booking options, etc, and VATSIM works very fine if you ask me.In the most pesimistic cases you still have UNICOM and the urge to follow procedures as necessary.True you don't get any airport ATC you wish but I think the price to pay (compared to numerous disadvantages of artificial ATC addons) is very fair. And the feeling of realism when talking to real human cotrollers, being handed from one control level to another and having real pilots around is literally priceless.
September 29, 200916 yr Author But then we can't fly to Singapore or any other major hubs with good scenery. We are confined to downloading USA and ATC staffed area. What if we want to fly elsewhere.
September 29, 200916 yr The advantage of using an off-line ATC like VoxATC, PFE, or Radar Contact is that there is a controller available all the time.RC follows whatever route you enter as created by any flight planner outputting an FS format. It builds its scenery database of runways, parking, and taxi paths from your installed scenery files. It also interacts with AI running within FS and you'll hear communications with AI and precautionary traffic target call outs to you and AI on the same frequency. RC will not cancel your IFR control if you goof up but it will nag. It is also flexible on the degree of ATC control regarding departures and arrivals. If your airline name is in its extensive callsign library of recorded labels you will get it pronounced otherwise you'll get an phonetic readout. If you click on my tag below, it will take you to the jdtllc.com site. Click on documents there and look at the features table and download the RC43 manual to browse. Read the tutorials and you will get the idea of what it offers.
September 29, 200916 yr we can't fly to Singapore or any other major hubs with good sceneryHow often do you really make long haul flights? Everyday? If so, you're lucky to have so much spare time. But probably, like most of us, only from time to time. You can get VATSIM control also on other continents like Asia (e.g. China and Hong Kong, Japan), in the Middle East, Africa (usually Egypt and RSA) and South America (Brazil). There are even interesting fly-ins there. Not on a regular basis unfortunately, but they are noted in VATSIM calendars, so you can plan your flight ehead.Have a look here: http://www.calsplus.net/vatsimWe are confined to downloading USA and ATC staffed areaIt's true that VATSIM is best for people flying around Europe (in a triangle between Canary Islands, Norway and Israel). There is a lot of control every evening in that area. But the USA is not bad either, which also gives you an option to fly over the Pond. What if we want to fly elsewhere.Look, in life you never get perfect solutions since they simply don't exist. And neither RC, PFE not VoxATC will do. Forget it. What we are discussing here is advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion, if you care about ATC realism and want to feel a really deep thrill, VATSIM is the way to go (right behind Real World, of course). But the ATC addons have some features you may like (definitely more complex and correct than the default), though you will have to buy them. There are simmers who use them and like them. So the choice is always yours and depends on what you personally appreciate and enjoy, but you will just NOT get a perfect solution.
