Anyone try this program

Featured Replies

First off I didnt know which forum section to put this in so if it is in the wrong forum section mods please move it. I was just curious on this program Called atc simulator2?I was just wondering if anyone has tried this program and what are your thoughts on it. I am very interrested in it but heard some pretty awful stuff about other atc simulations and havent really seen any subject that I can remember about ATC simulator2?So all in all what are your thoughts, Would you say it is worth the money or not? Thanks

I've used many ATC 'games' and ATCSim2 is by the far the best one. It def lacks depth in certain areas, but it's great fun and very addicting.

Just to be clear, ATC Sim 2 is not an FS add-on but a separate stand-alone airport controller simulator. It comes with several airport (terminal area) databasesand supplies its own AI for you to work with. There is no visual scenery of the airport as I understand it.http://www.atcsimulator.com/An older review is here (keep in mind that problems encountered have probably been fixed by now):http://www.flightsim.com/main/review/atc2x.htmA slightly older one is here (again it might have been updated):http://www.flightsim.com/main/review/atc2.htmThe current version of ATC Sim 2 has limited capability to link with FS9 workstations so you can act as a controller to these clients.A more current application of this genre is ATC3 which is a single airport sim:http://www.atc3support.com/The page above has links to reviews of this product on AVSIM and Flightsim.ATC3 only uses Tokyo-Narrita airport supplying both visual operation (airport scenery) and the controller scopes as I understand it. It is totally a stand-alone application with no FS connection.I don't use either program but am merely pointing out that more than one developer exists. Google ATC Simulator for more. These are not to be confused with FS ATC type add-ons that provide ATC services to you as a pilot.Hope this helps give you additional resources for your decision process.

Thanks for the information, I was aware that atcsim2 is not a fs addon and a totally seperate program. I would like to get into avsim controlling but i think it would get boring handling so little traffic over a few hour span(unless of course it is a fly in).Ill check out that atc3 that you mentioned and take a look. I also know of one by feelthere but heard nothing but bad things about it so ill stay away from that one. Thanks again for the info.P.S I do appreciate you pointing out that it is not a fs add-on, although i know it wasnt it could catch some people off guard and would have cleared up any confusion. Thanks again

I've looked into ATC3 in the past but it seemed it's more of a 'game' then a simulation. Make sure you know what you're getting before hand.

well i picked up atc simulator 2 from a local aviation shop, gave it a quick whirl and think it is a very well done simulator. I must say i am quite impressed, the only thing i found hard at the beginning was to learn all the key commands but it is quite easy to adapt to the controls and in a way kinda has a good flow to them. For anyone interrested in it i would definetly recommend it if you are interrested in a little atc'ing. Thanks for all the replies and suggestions.

The developer of ATC Simulator 2, Russell Davis, is a great guy! I bought the program over a year ago, then lost it. He helped me out when I didn't have the same E-Mail, couldn't remember my order number, etc. Basically, I had no proof to give him saying that I am who I say I am, and it wasn't a problem. The only proof he had was my E-Mail address, which is my full name, and it's a government address. Not only that, but when he sent me the download link again, he upgraded me to the professional edition! He's working on ATC Simulator 3, and I'm definitely going to buy it the minute I see that it's out. If it's anything like the second one, I'll be more than pleased.Just my $.0002

I can echo those comments, Russell has provided great support in the past when I had some issues with the program. I'm glad to hear there's an ATC3 coming out. I like ATC2, but I found the STARS mode a bit of a setback. You might also want to check out London Control (http://www.londoncontrol.com/), it is an extremely detailed sim that covers the London area (obviously) but there's also add-ons now i believe for Manchester and Scottish control.

Using atc sim 2 for just a few days I am already excited to hear the the developer is working on atc sim3, does anyone know how long atcsim 3 has been in development, just trying to see if I should start getting excited or is it much much to soon to even think about this program yet.

ATC Sim 3 should be released fairly soon. It's a tower sim. Check out the ATC Simulator facebook to see some screenshots.

Haha, yeah I figured I may have. If it's any consolation I'm right beside you! The last good tower sim I played with was BAO's Tower. After farting around with ATC Sim, I have a feeling that their tower sim will be a good (if not the best) one!He also has a Twitter, though I don't think it's updated very often. Here's the site: Aerostudios TwitterIt may be worth watching for updates, rather than going through the facebook looking for info. :(
