October 4, 200916 yr Hi gents,Yes, Chris' FlyLegacy sequel is still in progess : we have completed a lot of features and the sim is now quite almost finished for an alpha release in order to entice more developpers to join the group. We have also added several features that weren't in the original sim like a lot of informations from the vector map or the possibility to be dropped in any airport with just a mouse click !We have planned to discuss and prepare the FL release in our annaul rotw congress in december or january 2010, that is FL should be released very soon in the first months of 2010 ... obviously completely free and opensourced. Just to let you see the rendering a tiny image ... more to come until the release (we've copleted a lot of videos to let you see haow it goes). Cheers, laurentC (rotw group)
October 4, 200916 yr Hi laurentC & ROTW Group - Thanks for the update and it is great news. I've been away from Fly! for a few years and slowing getting back into it. I'm looking forward to FlyLegacy. One question - will it run on Vista64 and/or Windows 7?Regards,Bob Lyddy

October 5, 200916 yr Hi Laurent,Your update that FL is still on track is great news!. Am looking forward to the Alpha release with much anticipation.Good work!Brian.
October 5, 200916 yr Hi I don't know yet whether FL can be used with Vista64 or Window7 for nobody has tested it with those OS : though, I don't see any pb with Windows7 ...Sure, FL works fine in dual cores PC and suffers at startup with single core PC (a lot of databases read whilst graphic rendering) : the alpha release will be a good test for fixing single core and the various configurations around.Up to now the sim uses multithreading and OpenGL 2.0. and the aircraft that can be used are : ----------------------------------------------------------------------Flyhawk Stearman Malibu Navajo Ultralight Pa19 Tb10 Stemme Cordouan ROTW glider PDQ-3 GrummanAA5 Stag D17SenecaVBasically, all the sceneries can be used, like Tahoe or the Alps area, along with the 3D models for airports, trees or landmarks. As an example the San Francisco area is pretty much the same as its Fly! counterpart.Cheers, laurentC

November 11, 200916 yr Oh my gosh... looking at the screenshots and video, you guys have thoroughly impressed me. I was a Fly! fan way back in the day but have moved to X-Plane on Mac. Hopefully we'll see a Mac binary of this, too. I think that the polish that you guys are bringing to a completely grassroots/indy Flight Sim will far outweigh what the FlightGear guys are doing.
January 11, 201016 yr Hi laurentC & ROTW Group - Thanks for the update and it is great news. I've been away from Fly! for a few years and slowing getting back into it. I'm looking forward to FlyLegacy. One question - will it run on Vista64 and/or Windows 7?Regards,Bob LyddyHello Flyers,A word to tell you than Legacy run fine on Vista 64 and Windows 7 64. (not Fly!II on my PC with Windows 7 :( ).Another word to inform you than Fly!II tools ( VolNav, VolEdit and something new about taxiways and aiport but it's a secret :( ) are changing also :( and will be ready to use on Linux or Mac if Legacy could one day.RegardsDidier
January 11, 201016 yr That's great, thanks for your effort. I wish you receive the recognition you deserve from the Fly! comunity.Take mine!Jordi. :(

I am quite hopeful this will run under Linux, as I really do prefer Linux as my OS. I am finding it quite a challenge to get WINE set up to run Fly! II well,. Now, I just recently bought a new Laptop that came with Win7 64bit Premium. So far, I am having little difficulty getting Fly! II to run, though I cannot get it past the 1024x768 size, and my main resolution on this laptop is 1366x768. But I must say, Fly! II runs quite well for me in the overall aspect of things! I get FPS of 60+ majority of time. But I also confess I am not fond of Windows 7 any more than I was of Win XP (I skipped Vista).Looking forward to FL coming out soon. If you gentlemen wish, and can get it running within FL - you are free to use Seawind also! ROTW members had a large part in getting her working, and I am more than hoping she will Fly! again in FL!Best regards to all there within ROTW! ___________________________ Kenneth E Wood Jr 🌪️🌩️ ex AG1, USN (14yr Vet) Weather Foecaster

January 24, 201016 yr Hi all,Yes, the DC3 is yet in the list and Jean has started to port the ATR ! ... Right now we had only the piston engine ready but perhaps the turbo compressed will be packed in the alpha release. Some news from the rotw group : the last 16th of january we had our annual meeting in Paris and the discussion was all about FlyLegacy and the better way to release an alpha version. Finally we decided to do all our best to get a march release : all the tiny things left have to be adjusted to get a version that most of the users can install easily and try without too much complications. As an alpha version this release will be inteded for people who knows Fly!II and isn't too shy to rover all around the files and help us fixing all that can be fixed. So, I hope to come again with good news in march. All the best, laurentC
January 24, 201016 yr Thank you Laurent, ROTW and all other who work hard to make Fly still going strong! Will wait with great interest for your march release of Fly Legacy.BRMats :(
