FS9 MD11 rudder problem after landing

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, I've been using the MD11 on and off since January. The last few months I experience a weird problem with the rudder of the MD11. It only appears after landing, during taxi to the gate. It starts when I apply power to turn off the runway. From that moment on, the rudder doesn't go into a neutral position, but stays stuck in a right position. Even when I don't push my right rudder pedal (saitek yoke and pedals) the aircraft wants to steer right. When I bring up the SD-panel it also shows the rudder to stay in a right position. When I apply full pressure on the left pedal it does go back to left. But as soon as I take my foot of the left pedal, it goes right again. It does not happen during taxi before t/o or with any other plane (beech1900D, default fs9 or other publisher).Could it be that I am doing something wrong with my procedures? This is what I do:Autoland or manual landing (doesn't make a difference)roll out with medium brakes set and reverse thrust (engaged with the F2 key as I only have forward thrust assigned to my thrust handle)Bringing engines back to idle (with F1)Apply power with the Saitek thrust handle (spoilers will automatically retract)Use rudder pedals to steer left or right. As soon as I release the left or right pedal after making the turn onto the taxiway it gets stuck. (it happens everywhere, both on add-on and default scenery and leaving the rwy on the left or right hand side)Any idea?Arjen BrusseP.s. Please note that I have my Saitek Yoke and pedals assigned via FS9 (not via FSUIPC). I have assigned them manually (after removing all the default assignments).

Arjen,You are not alone in this. I have had this happen to me a few times but have never found the catalist. I went through a stage of trying to get the auto brakes to work (works 1 out of 20 landings). I don't remember how I had the rudder set up at the time, it could have been through FSX. Since I have gone back to FSUIPC I have not had this prob. I have however noticed an issue with the FS2Crew pushback and the MD11. When used I have no nose wheel stearing even tho' the rudder does. Once taxi speed breaks 6 knots and I cycle from full right to full left I ge stearing back. Rather odd. What add ons are you using?Regards

Disconnect the A/P before steering off the runway, it will attempt to maintain centerline. (Press twice to silence alarm)

You may also need to press the center rudder key command . Rich
