October 9, 200916 yr Hello all. I searched before posting this and could not find anything close. So, here goes...I've observed two (2) situations so far...a) Once you have programmed the flight plan into the FMS, you can NOT delete a WPT from the f/p route. The <ERASE> button does just that... it ERASES the entire flight plan and you must start over:( While airborne... and ... if you've already programmed in the STAR/TRANSITION/RWY for the destination - before taking off - should you need to change the arrival runway or even the star, the flight plan (amendments) gets added on to the existing flight plan instead of being an overwrite from the TRANSITION point. So, what happens - in my case - is you have to hunt for the correct (DIRECT TO->) to avoid flying a 360 back to the arrival airport. For example...EDDC-EGPHFlight #: EZE1988F/P Route: [sID] BEBEX Q230 TADUV T804 MAG L986 DLE L980 ETEBO UL980 FLEVO UL602 SUPUR UL60 KOLAG L60 SOPEK L989 BODSO Y70 POL N601 MARGO [sTAR]After reviewing the WX, it was determined that the SID out of Dresden would be BEBEX5W with the BEBEX transition. Further, the arrival into Edinburgh would be (based on weather at time of departure from Dresden) would be the MARGO transition into TWEED1A star for a landing on ILS rwy 24.There was no ATC online until I was just past POL vortac.Once contact was made, I was advised that rwy in use was ILS 06. So, pulling up the F/P page on the CDU... I went through the [ARRIVAL] sequence with the updated rwy number. That's when I discovered that the entire STAR/TRANSITION was added (indented) below the original f/p routing.Adding misery to discomfort... the JS41 began picking up some ICE. So, I flipped up to the overhead and kicked-in the de-icers. Then, as if the 'lil gremlins decided to play ball... after switching to the EXTERNAL VIEW (to see the ice build-up) and switching back to cockpit view, I lost all sound of the engines. I'm not kidding. Then I realized that I had lost all voice comms - PERIOD.Still not sure how that happened... or if I could reproduce it.Then, I could NOT command the plane to descend. Solution was to turn OFF the A/P and hand-fly the JS41 down to the runway... while typing abbreviated responses to SCOTTISH CONTROL. Did I mention it's always cloudy over in the UK? At 2500' I was still in clouds... following turn/descend directions play by play.Then... there was the runway visible (ILS LOC/GS active) through a break in the clouds.Safe landing.Flight details here... http://vataware.com/flight.cfm?id=4322692But, the question remains...a) how to delete WPTs from a pre-filled flight plan:( how to prevent the duplication of wpts if one has to change the the STAR/TRANS/RWY... as I had to aboveKeith H70 Liquid Cooling - GTX760 2Gb - 240Gb SSD w/Win7 Ultimate 64bit - Western Digital VelociRaptors w/FSX-Accel - FSGRW Engine - FPS Limiter v0.2 (30+fps)
October 9, 200916 yr a) Once you have programmed the flight plan into the FMS, you can NOT delete a WPT from the f/p route. The <ERASE> button does just that... it ERASES the entire flight plan and you must start overUse the right LSK's to highlight the way point you want to erase, then use the "Back" button on the FMC. An "Erase?" message appears, then hit the "Enter" key on the keypad. Way point is deleted.after switching to the EXTERNAL VIEW (to see the ice build-up) and switching back to cockpit view, I lost all sound of the enginesPressing the "Q" key on your computers keyboard twice will typically fix any missing / wrong sounds after swapping internal / external views.how to prevent the duplication of wpts if one has to change the the STAR/TRANS/RWYI don't think it's possible, but perhaps someone with more experience will have a solution.
October 9, 200916 yr I don't think it's possible, but perhaps someone with more experience will have a solution.Think of arrival selection as a select and paste operation at its simplist. The FPL list of fixes is just a list, and adding an arrival adds to the list. Select another arrival might overwrite the existing arrival under certain conditions but sometimes an edit of the fix list is required. Dan Downs KCRP

The <ERASE> button does just that... it ERASES the entire flight plan and you must start over...You can delete a waypoint from the f/p route in the FMS.Here are the steps.- Select the waypoint (ie press the left LSK next to it so that it backlights).- Press the [bACK] key, the text 'DELETE?' will display in Yellow next to the waypoint.- Press the [ENTER] Key to confirm the deletion, and it will be deleted. The limitation on this delete function is the FMS will not let you delete the Active waypoint (ie the one displayed in Magenta). You can also use the Direct To page to skip ahead (or even backwards) waypoints.Regards.Ernie.
