Hi!Right now my setup is:QX9650 @ 3.83 11.5x333EVGA 790iEVGA GTX 280 @ 702-1269-1512Corsair 8gb 1333mhzFSX Acel-Ultimate Terrain X (all)-REX 2.0-Ultimate Traffic II (80% Commercial, 50% GA)-FS Global 2008I get around 40~60 FPS over default scenery and in areas like NYC or London around 20~30... that is when flying a GA aircraft like carenado or similar... And when flying heavy iron like PMDG MD-11/747 or Capsim 767/757 I get around 40~45 default and 15~25 over detailed areas...I'm thinking lately in upgrading my pc... this is what I have in mind:Windows 7 Ultimatei7 975 overclocked at least 4.0GhzEVGA X58 ClassifiedCorsair 6gb 1600mhzEVGA GTX 295 Co-OpIf anyone has a setup similar to what I'm planning to get please share your FPS...Thanks,Dexter

I don't think so. I recommend that you save your money and wait until next year. See what's new then.

Maybe you're right... I think I'll wait... We need a 16 core CPU @ 5GHz for FSX to get 40 FPS over London with any PMGD/Capsim aircraft... :( I wonder what performance will have FSX with a Tesla Supercomputer... :( Dexter"Life without FSX is an error"... :(

Dexter, I went from a [email protected] to my current setup and they difference is really quite staggering. The memory read bandwidth being nearly double and the higher clock makes for a profound difference in FSX.Regards,Bob

Tesla, sadly, would do zip, nothing, nada for FSX - because it lacks the threads.I think you might see an improvement with the i7 975 at 4.0GHz, suitably-tuned RAM and a GTX285 (rather than a 295, which is actually a bit slower than the 285 for FSX). I suspect you'd notice it, but be disappointed: it probably would not be more than ~5-10%.If you want a more accurate guess, tell me all your settings, give me a location, time, date and weather mode (use one of the FSX defaults, not REX), use the PMDG MD-11 or 747X - and I'll let you know what I get at my end. I've got the 975 @ 4.4GHz with a GTX285 and 6GB well-tuned RAM, so you'd get a pretty good idea.Tim

HiThat's not possible for now... About a month ago I had a HDD failure where I installed FSX but I already got my replacement (WD 1TB Black Caviar)... I'm holding the re-installation because the 22 Windows 7 is gonna be released so I'm waiting to get my copy...Maybe W7 will speed FSX a bit enough to make me happy...BTW for anyone... What are your opinions about the Logitech G940?Nestor

Nestor,It's been said before more than once - there's no magic bullet theory. All the components have to be working perfectly together to get the best performance for FSX.After 10 years of upgrades, when you consider the costs vs FSX performance increase, it's just not worth it. Especially since a year from know you might have the performance you want.If you're building a system for video production, and not just for fsx, then you'll be delighted with the investment. I use my system to enhance and create music videos. It's mighty fast.
