Your opinions on Flight Operations Center Please

Featured Replies

Looking for new flight planner , got my eyes on FOC , or anything of good quality. Please advice on foc or any flight planner that is miles better than the defualt fsx planner. Thanks

Take a look at FS Commander ==>http://www.fscommander.com/
It would be nice to get an opnion on which is a better flight planner between Flight Sim commander / and / flight operations centre.

Hi,FS Commander is a great program, that I agree with. I always have it on for flight following, checking AI and many more (on a networked pc). For flight planning though, IMHO nothing (that I know of) beats FSBuild. But than, I can't comment on flight operations centre as i don't have it nor have I ever used it.

FOC is so old the developer's email address is a CompuServe account number.I see no information that is current (newer than 2003) on it's web site.Because of that, I would be cautious regarding possible purchase.

Thanks, that is all i needed to hear to make my mind up to look away from F.O.C.Maybe i will now look into Fsbuild or Fscommander.I have to admit i dont want Fscommander moving map though, unless it does something the defualt fsx gps moving map does not display. My question now isFsbuild OR Fscommander

You don't have to use the FSC moving map. I use it strictly as a flight planner and don't have it running while running FSX.

I have just seen a few youtube tutorial vids for Fsbuild and Fscommander, these two products seem to be top of the range as FSX flight planners go, i thought FOC was up there as well, but seems FOC is a dinasor. Thanks for all the replies, i have now got both Fsbuild and Fscommander, now i have to do some testing .Thanks also to all those kind enough to put up youtube tutorials, Fsbuild and Fscommander tutorial vids on youtube were also very informative.

FOC is not for the casual user. It is best suited for VA's or flight simmers with no life. :) (me). Depending on the mood I'm in, I use it along with TOPCAT to generate very accurate flight plan and TO/Landing data. If you want a flight planner that will accurately predict fuel burn against real weather winds aloft then FOC is the ONLY choice I have found. It includes STOPS, EROPS and NATPLOTs for pond jumpers. It has a steep learning curve, but the pre-flight results are superb. Although their website is old and outdated, they continue to provide nav updates along with access to their weather servers for flight plan calculations. I just updated my 1 year weather data subscription for 10 euros. There is (was) an excellent review of FOC here on AVSIM. IMO, it is the most accurate and detailed dispatch flight planner available for FS. Period. Bob.. :)

That will explain why Fscommander and Fsbuild are both 30 something euros and FOC is still 56 euros.Dont mind looking into it one day, still cant seem to find a youtube tutorial for it though, like i did the other two planners.

I now have FsBuild and Fscommander installed .From what i can see so farFsbuild appears to be a very detailed proffesional planner, suprised to see it can help with Step climbs , winds aloft etc.Fscommander however, i suspect maybe not as sophisticated a flight planner as FsBuild, but !WOW! it does far by far much more than a flight planner, If i had to go for one of them first, i would definatly go for Fscommander, cause all the help that Fscommander provides i need more than a very detailed flight planner.Fscommander Moving Map is a very very great tool, so am willing to overlook the fact that Fsbuild is possibly a better fligth planner. Fscommander GUI offers a very rich set of features.I would recomend buying Fscommander before Fsbuild, if you looking for a tool that will give you greater command of your FSX flight. FsBuild is simply a very good flight planner and nothing more, but Fscommander is a rich set of tools to help with your entire flight including the flight plan. Thanks for all the info guys, Fscommander won this contest, cause it offers Far more tools than just flight planning. However since i now have both, think Fsbuild will plan my flights, and Fscommander will remain on through the flight, with Fscommander i can now possibly get rid of FSX GPS as my moving map.The main fact is, Fsbuild is a small application entirelly focused on making a flight plan, and Fscommander is a Big application that is designed to help throught the entire flight.

Fair warning... applications like FSCommander will not function correctly with advanced third-party addon aircraft. The more complex the autopilot, the less likely it is to allow FSCommander to interact.
