October 24, 200916 yr I came to this forum looking for help with the Sperry 732 a/p - perhaps even a tutorial, but didn't really find what I wanted - quite a few posts from other people also finding it hard to manage though. Is there in fact a tutorial anywhere? I always seem to end up having to fly the a/c by hand - which is a lot harder than most when it is so hard to control the pitch and maintain altitude. I am half-tempted to try and replace the A/P, though it would be a shame in many ways. Any suggestions? I use a Saitek X52 - maybe some of the a/p problem is from that. Any other X52 users cracked this? Many thanks,Martin.. how, for instance, do I set a vertical climb speed? The'pitch cmd' doesn't seem to have any effect at all - I have to adjust with trim, but that doesn't last long and I am soon out of trim, climbing at 5000ft/min. Disengage a/p and level out somewhat - then problems beging trying to fly manually. Ho-hum. Really need a manual for this. Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
October 24, 200916 yr The way I use it (and by no means am I saying it is the correct way, it may or may not be) is to use it as a basic "hold your flight profile". I will fly at say 1500ft minute climb and then engage the A/P. Al Stiff
October 24, 200916 yr Author I did try something like that descending, but if the AP is off the a/c swings up and down like it's on a roller coaster, at the slightest touch of the joystick. It's a really frustrating aircraft this - great modelling in all departments, but quite impossible to fly (for me, I stress, thus far!),Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
October 24, 200916 yr The TinMouse I installed has a Sperry 77 AP...I just flew this Simulator in Vegas ...see my post..It does not have an altitude pre select or vertical speed control...It has an Altitude Hold... You can control the pitch in the manual with the "Elevator" engaged on the AP... I have not tried it .. I am just reading the manual.. I'll do some checking and report back..Ray Lunning I did try something like that descending, but if the AP is off the a/c swings up and down like it's on a roller coaster, at the slightest touch of the joystick. October 25, 200916 yr Hi Martin,I'm using an X45 (long overdue replacement! :( ) and this is what I do:-With fuel/bugs/flaps/trim/ runway heading set up I do my takeoff run at the calculated EPR. Pull back the stick (at VR) to about 8 Best Regards, Philip M Wafer EIWT
October 30, 200916 yr Author I'll copy this thread so I can read it offline and try the same next time I fly the a/c. Thanks,Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
December 10, 200916 yr The Tinmouse2 uses CWS (Control Wheel Steering). When the AP is engaged, but altitude hold is off and heading select is off, you can control your pitch and roll by using very light inputs to the yoke/joystick. It is VERY sensitive, depending on your controller settings. All the AP instructions are included in the 1.25 manual. If your new to the 'Mouse it will take a bit of getting used to. Once you do it's a beautiful thing. Victor Buck
