October 28, 200916 yr I am emphasizing the phrase "on tower frequency". If you are on any other phase of arrival including final you do not get AI protection until you are told to contact tower about five miles out.You also might be interested in a freeware utility many use called AISmooth version 1.2. It should be on AVSIM if the library is up. If not flightsim.com has it as aismv120.zip. It is listed under FSX but also works in FS9. You can try setting USER PLANE RESPONSE on but I'm not sure if this might interfere with RC control. It might also cause when you are holding near the runway all approaching AI to be placed in holding patterns. I leave it off.Its main function is to separate arriving AI according to your settings. This can allow you to squeeze into a "string of pearls" and allow you and departing AI to take off more swiftly reducing the take-off queue.If you use it turn off the settings regarding SHOW ATC MESSAGES and SPEAK ATC MESSAGES in this utility.The author's site appears to be discontinued but it comes with a manual.
