I am planning on getting a new computer. I use FS9. Specs are :ASUS P6T SE Mainboard Intel

You can take that system and divide it by half and it'll be a good system for fs9. That system is quite good for FSX.

I forgot to add that I run Ultimate Traffic/Active Sky/Ground Environment typically using PMDG/Feelthere/Flight1 ATR/SSTSIM Concorde a/c.

Still just fine with those addons... you'll be hard pressed to actually max out FS2004 with that rig, no matter what you throw at it. As mentioned above, it'll also run FSX with very very good settings and addons at acceptable and enjoyable performance. You're positioned well to step into FSX.

Overall those are pretty good specs. What exactly were you planning on doing with the system? Were there any specific games you were going to be playing, or are you just trying to prepare for all games in general?

Main use is split between FS9 and digital photography (processing raw files etc)

My setup for FS9:Intel Core Duo E8400ATi 48501G x2 PC2-6400 Dual Channel RAMI have fps locked at 25 and rarely see it move. I have all sliders maxed, 100 percent GA and Airline traffic with a massive amount of flightplans installed. Fly in VC only with payware airports.

Well I can report back that the new system has transformed FS9 for me.Just completed a flight from EGLL (aerosoft/simwings Heathrow 2008) to KJFK (FS Dreamteam). SSTSIM Concorde. Ultimate Traffic AI,with many additional AI aircraft (3,000) and plans at 100%. Active Sky real time updates.Landing in JFK was tricky as the low cloud meant i had to go around once.My frame rates on final, flying through the cloud ? ... 40 where i had limited it !!!
