October 29, 200916 yr Can anyone tell me if they are using this device for flying PMDG planes? I'm interested to know if on landing you get a more realalistic experience. http://www.simw.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=d...ls&pid=1596 Thanks. Regards, Ron Gautreau CYYZ
October 29, 200916 yr Its funny you posted this, I looked into it and was wondering the same thing, I think Im going to pass though. It looks as if it would just create some sort of mild vibration through your chair. Kinda like an XBOX controller.

I'm interested to know if on landing you get a more realalistic experience. http://www.simw.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=d...ls&pid=1596 Thanks.I was thinking of getting one for watching films at my pc, instead I just got a huge subwoower. When the guy installed the sound system he told me to put the subwoofer against the wall. on the T/O roll it feels like I have 500 tons of aircraft underneath me, my neighbours are fairly far away so it's no big deal. The advantage of the buttkicker is you can get that feeling without making a huge amount of noise if your neighbours are close.RegardsRob Rob Prest
October 30, 200916 yr Author Thanks for the responses guys. I was really hoping that someone was actually using this device and could tell me what they thought of it in terms of flight.I know this isn't a PMDG specific question or topic but I thought this might be the best spot to get some feedback on a product used for flight. October 30, 200916 yr Hi, I will step in and tell you that almost every home cockpit builder I know, as well as myself, use a butt kicker. I bought it before the sim was built and loved it (mounted to my office seat), and now it's simply mounted to a bracket I built that mounts directly to the simulator base beneath the center pedestal. It has a lot of variable effect that each user can tune directly to their liking. For me it was a great enhancement and I have impressed lots of visitors to the sim when we start our takeoff roll and they feel the vibration kicking in. Thanks for that feedback Eric, that helps me alot. Can you tell me , when the wheels first touch the runway, what kind of response does it send? And while flying, is it always sending a vibration, or can you tune that down? Regards, Ron Gautreau CYYZ
October 30, 200916 yr You can tune it from massive way over the top (where it will destroy itself and anything you mount it to) to where you only notice it on a very hard landing, with settings all in between. There's no preset indentations; it's all a smooth potentiometer that you turn until it works to your satisfaction. For me, it's mostly only noticeable when Im moving full speed right before V1 and upon gear up/down and of course landing, but even a soft landing sometimes doesnt yield too much response. However, you will need to play with it to get it just right. Eric Tomlin Full Size LJ45 Sim Builder Hangar45.net/ FlightLevel180.org "Is this FSX or FS9, I can't tell anymore???"
October 30, 200916 yr This is starting to interest me more and more, what do you plug it into your speakers or something?

October 31, 200916 yr Now all that is missing is a gravity simulator. When you pull up you feel heavier and when you go down you feel weightless. LOLTaylor Oldham
November 4, 200916 yr This is from Eric over at Buttkicker:If the sim produce low freq output like engine hum and take off should really be noticeable, especially landing effects.I would suggest the BK Gamer 2 or NASCAR Edition for more wattage and kick. www.thebuttkicker.comPosted by:Ken Carlin ROG Maximus X Apex Z370 -- 8086 @ 5.3 / NB 5.0 -- GSkill @ 4133 c17-17-32~Cr1 1.42v -- EVGA 1080Ti 6393 -- ROG PG279Q 1440P 150hz -- Corsair H100i V2 --Samsung EVO 850(s) -- Windows7 Pro 64 --Corsair 750X Ken C
November 4, 200916 yr I have it too!And i must say it is a must!... with the JS4100 u fell all those turboprop vibrations really nice! The only catch is when having voices.. like the ones in fs2crew.. if they are too low.. they will interfere with the vibration... but u can always adjust it at FS settings.Cheers Márcio Nóbrega

March 3, 201016 yr Hey guys, I have been meaning to add my thoughts to this for a while now and just now remembered. Of course just to update the knowledge base here for anyone considering it.Here is my review now having owned the Buttkicker 2 Gamer for a couple months.First and foremost it is important to note as mentioned before me, that this is a device that reads the bass channel and provides rumble or feedback according to sound and not force feedback data. So, when you are loading up your flight sim it will be rocking away to your FS music haha so I normally wait to start it until in the cockpit.Pros: It is pretty sweet and does add a ton of immersion in the sim. It really does do a good job in the sim to only pick up on the lower frequencys, so it does seem to pick out only the things you would want it to, such as ground taxi noise. Awesome when putting the gear up or down or when using flaps! It really feels like you are there. If you have FSPassengers, the added turbulence sounds and taxi sounds really get picked up nice with this making it that much better an experience. When I push full throttle I really get the sense that I am taking off and my whole chair vibrates. Same as above but enjoy the landings as well. I use FSP so again, there is added noise on touchdown that helps this effect a bit. Has a corded remote (gamer 2 version) so easy to adjust while at your seat. May help get your GF involved in your hobby more than she might be, although this may be a con to some, hehe. Cons: Loud! If you are not an adult and have your own place, I would hope that you at least have tollerable parents and are prefferable on the lower level since the lights may be a rocking while you're a simming ;-) It puts off a lot of vibration so you'll need to make adjustments to your chair. For me it was just a matter of sticking foam between my seat and the tilt handle underneath to keep it from shaking. When you switch to outside views it gets rather intense, although this could be viewed as a possitive also. Cord that goes from the unti to the amp can become annoying, but has tie downs and is very robust so no need to worry about hurting it. Loud,,, have I mentioned that? Documentation is crap. Shipping, by far my biggest con, see below. Overall this is an awesome addition to my virtual experience and not just simming. Racing games are awesome, but most racing games have music blaring that it will want to rock out to so you may need to lower that volume for best results (personally, I don't listen to the music tracks of racing games since it all sounds like skateboarder music to me :( ). I also love it for sitting watching a movie. The technology was mainly created for movie experience and is awesome for watching a thriller or action packed movie.Shipping,,, well, hopefully people are less concerned with getting things fast than I am. I have a work hard play hard mentality and have a great deal of patience but not when I decide on something and want it. If I want it, I often want it NOW! haha. Their shipping prices for overnight is $80+ dollars, even coming from Chicago in my case. I have both a UPS and Fed Ex account and have shipped triple the weight of this unit at a fraction of the price they claim is the lowerest it can be. The normal shipping cost isn't bad. I actually searched for this product via other vendors to keep the price as low as possible and even though the moron that I emailed said "Yes, we have it in stock" changed his tune after I placed my order then doubled his shipping charges saying it had to be sent from the manufacturer at their shipping prices. Annoyed doesn't even begin to some up that experience. Also and lastly to note. Be careful ordering it from Amazon. They show pictures of the Gamer 2, but from descrepencies in the description & title versus the pictures made me call them and good thing I did because it was the gamer 1 I would have gotten rather than the gamer 2 (big difference in AMP and I think the remote as well as unit attachment). Amazon is known for their border line false advertising so just be cautious before getting from them as the reseller (not as much as if it is from someone else on their site).Anywho, those are my thoughts. I love it but don't use it when my brother is here since it really does shake the downstairs lights with my settings :(PS. Make sure you have gone to the bathroom prior to using, the vibration can shake your kiddnies amking you need to go haha, like a jack hammer does. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
