  1. Thanks Dan for explaining this. It’s helped me to understand it better.
  2. Thanks for confirming that Koen. That's what i suspected but wasn't entirely sure.
  3. Hi, I can't seem to find a good explanation on this. When I arm the LOC, FAC comes up on the PFD instead of LOC. I've read through the manual but there is no explanation that I could find. as a result, the aircraft descends to 2000 ft then levels of, so no Autoland. Maybe because I armed it too soon? I know on the 744, you can't arm the LOC till you are within range. Ok. I changed the option to correct loc crs to sim to ON and the glide slope was captured and I just did a Land 3 autoland. Not sure is that was the issue or if I was just engaging the LOC too early.
  4. It's installed now. I wasn't patient enough. The shear size of the file extraction took a few hours.
  5. Hi, I'm trying to install global vector for P3D V4 via FTX central and I keep getting a Microsoft.NET Framework error. It Says " Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click quit, the application will close immediately. Could not find a part of the path F:\Prepar3D ver 4\ORBS\FTX\FTX_VECTOR_OBJ\SCENERY". I've tried clicking continue but it doesn't work. Everything has installed fine in FTX Central. This is the first problem I've had install any of the Orbx scenery via FTX Central. I tried cleaning up all partial downloads, but it just locks up FTX Central and I need to close it.
  6. Ya, you definitely have to weigh your options when trying to solve issues, and how much time your willing to spend on it. I'm not saying that's what I do for every problem. Sometimes there is something corrupt with the installation. I may have forgot to turn off the antivirus etc. It's merely a quick option to try when you think things aren't running right. If you don't do that, that's fine. It's gotten me out of some tough problems since I started flying in 2002.
  7. I agree. Unfortunately, I don't have the time or patients to deal with these issues, so sometimes, I'll try a quick reinstall to see if it clears up. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If it does, bonus! No more time wasted and on to flying
  8. Thanks Romain for that helpful information. I just wanted to add that the reason I reinstalled the plane was because I was getting some odd behavior as well. I would lose my thrust ref on takeoff sometimes just before V1(without FSUIPC). I'm not sure if that's a hardware spike issue or not. But I remember having the same issue a while ago and reinstalling the plane solved it.
  9. I reinstalled the plane and FSUIPC and have no issues now. Climb rate is correct along with speed. Now I don't have any assignments yet. On the previous install, I had assigned flaps and speed brakes to my throttle. I've never had them assigned before so maybe this was the issue?(Skelsey) If something changes, I will repost. Thanks.
  10. I'm going to try a fresh install of FSUIPC and see if things change.
  11. ok...tested with FSUIPC and without. No weather, clear skies and it appears that yes FSUIPC is affecting this. Just to show the differences in flight I took screen shots at the same stage of each flight. Now I also experienced a loss of thrust ref on take off on one flight ,so I'm not sure if I have some kind of hardware spike happening sometimes. But regardless, both flights from the screen shot were normal on take off. Hopefully this link works. Thank you all for responding. Let me know if there is anything else you would like me to try or do. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/a4pob1jijd74nhi/AABX1Y_8UKLl2q52EeGhDjlXa?dl=0
  12. Hi Jim, No, gear was up, and flaps were up as well. In fact , I retracted the flaps even though I hadn't reached the proper retract speed(it just wouldn't get there). Yes, I'm using active sky. I will check the air temp , thanks. Yes, I'm importing my flight plan directly into the FMC. It's always been good. I should just try manually inputting one just to eliminate the possibility that it's causing any issues. I tend to be a lazy pilot. I import my route and just let the FMC do its thing. I've always gotten away with that up until now.
  13. I have a problem with my 747 and prepar v4. I create all my flights with FSC and have been for a long time with no issues. On climb out, engines are set for climb thrust, but the plane just can't get enough speed to climb up to crz. It just seems to get to about 6-7000 ft and sit there, climbing very slow with the engines running at climb rate , then leveling to try to gain speed, but never gets there. Starting to wonder if it might be FSUIPC. Going to try tonight with it disabled. I'm using win10, fsuipc5 with ORBX scenery, no payware airports installed yet. Anyone have any ideas on what's going on? Thanks.

    Land 3 disconnecting

Guess I've always followed the tutorial which is to engage the LOC then the APP button. Never knew I could bypass the LOC button and go straight to the APP once on the glide path. I learned something new, thanks  I'll try this next time. You guys both sound like you know a lot more than I do on the 777. Once I followed the tutorial and landed successfully on auto land, I was happy and have flown the same way since. But I will try it your way and see how it goes.

    Land 3 disconnecting

Not possible Mike. At least I have never been able to turn on the LOC button before the GS was picked up. And I have never been able to engage the APPR button until the aircraft was locked onto the Localizer. Once the APPR button is on, the VNAV light does go out.

    Land 3 disconnecting

That's correct. GS is established, LOC establishes correctly for me just as you described, and then the APR button is pressed. But I'm guessing that somehow the LOC was being lost just around when AUTOLAND3 would establish.

    Land 3 disconnecting

Hi Mike/ Romain, It seemed to just start doing it out of the blue. It also happened at any other airports I was trying to land at. It seemed to disconnect right at the set altimeter level at 2000ft. Auto throttle was still connected, L nav still connected but V nav not, as I had already engaged the approach button. The master warning would go off at this point in amber and the plane would just fly straight. Now these were from loaded flights. They loaded correctly each time and I did load the panel state as well. I finally decided to reinstall the 777. I also reinstalled the latest navdata and was able to autoland at the previous airport that I couldn't before. So it seems to have solved the issue. Thanks for replying.
  18. Hi, I have a problem that on short final LAND 3 disconnects and says not available. Initially it connects and lights up green. Is there a setting somewhere that I have turned on to disconnect LAND 3 automatically? Thanks in advance, Ron
  19. Rey, Ultimately it depends on your scenery add-ons. If your going to run just the stock FSX, then I'd say yes, you'll most likely be able to run it. But if your like most of us , who need all the scenery eye candy available today, then you'll need more horse power IMHO.
  20. Hi Nick,I had this same problem and it turned out to be the firewall. now I had it turned off but I didn't realize that there is another setting to turn off under windows firewall with advance security. When I turned it off here, all was fine. In windows 7, click the start button, then in the search field, type windows firewall. It sould show up here. I hope this helps you out.
  21. I'm running the same setup on a P8P67 LE board. There are some limitations with this board but I'm at 4.6mhz right now and stable. If you want to get to 5.0mhz, you need to buy the P8P67 Pro. Temps are 40 at idle and 60-65 under full load. I'm also using an ECO A.L.C. coolit water cooler with an extra fan which in my opinion, is the best one going right now. Unfortunatly, they were bought out by Corsair so if you want one of these coolers, grab one now. My video card is a GTX 285Also, if you use IC Diamond thermal paste, you can bring your temps down even more. I just bought some but haven't tried it yet. Good Luck.
  22. I just want to congratulate :( the PMDG team on this fantastic expansion for the 747. Great job!!! This new bird looks and flys fantastic! Thanks for all the hard work that I'm sure went into this new breed of 747 :( Well done guys!!
  23. Can you tell me in the MD or 747 how it responded when the wheels first touch the the runway on landing?
  24. Thanks again Eric for your detailed explaination. I think I'm going to try this device out now. I believe the way it works is the amp plugs into your sound card.
