  1. >Hi,>>Yes, I did install the update prior to the installation of the>liveries.>>Regards>>WillemWillem, maybe I didn't explain it right. I'm assuming you had a good installation of the aircraft with liveries prior to the patch and you could see all the varients just fine. Now if you apply the patch, (something gets overwritten I'm not sure what)and when you look at the variants again, they're just showing the default PMDG colours. Now, if you look in the PMDG directory, you can still see all your liveries. If you simply try and re-install overtop of these, they still will not show up. If you uninstall them through add remove programs and re-install them, they will come back.Like I said, this has been my experience and I'm thinking it has to do with the registry entry for the liveries.
  2. Hi Willem,If you have recently applied the latest patch ,it's been my experience that you will have to uninstall and re-install your liveries. I'm not sure why but maybe one of the PMDG team can explain.
  3. Hi Alfred,Wow...I didn't think I would ever get this level of help :)>Did you open up the firewall port in the Windows firewall on both PC's? IIRC (at work right now) open TCP port 500.I have shut off the firewalls on both pc's, if thats what you mean. Also, I don't know if it matters, but the client pc is working on a wireless connection and the server(the one with FSX) is hard wired.I'm at work as well right now, so I can't tinker with it. If I still can't get things working either tonight or sometime this week, I'll take you up on your last offer. Thanks again
  4. Alfred,Thankyou very much for taking the time to write such a detailed description on your solution of the simconnect problem.I'm no network wiz thats for sure, so I need all the information I can get when it comes to things like this.It seems that I have FSUIPC talking between the server and the client computer with FSX, as I get a connected message at the top, but ASX doesn't seem to be making the connection.I'm going to go through your process tonight and see if I can't get it to connect. I find as soon as I start messing around with the I.P.address, I lose my connection to the internet that runs through a Linksys router. So I didn't have much luck with that. But I'm assuming that if FSUIPC is connecting, then I don't have to mess with the I.P. address. I've followed the instructions on networking the best I could, but just can't seem to get ASX to make the connection. And one last question. I haven't looked on the FSX dvd yet, but to install simconnect, am I looking for an executable file or is it installed automatically when you instal SDK?Again, thanks for taking the time here to try and help.
  5. >It was a suggestion by Al Jordan that fixed it for me.Alfred, can you post a link to Al's solution? or post it here? Thanks,
  6. >Those order pages are fake - we do not have any specs for the>boxed version. The manuals will almost certainly not be>printed in the boxed version as they will be many hundreds of>pages long. Aerosoft may make their own "Quick Start" guide>for printing but there's no way they'll actually print the>real manual.Ryan, if it is a false ad, then why is PC Aviator advertising it http://www.pcaviator.com/shop/viewAProduct.php?pid=894 ? I really don't think they would do that without concrete information, would they??
  7. Anthony, this is from FSX.I'm assuming that if you purchased the FS9 version,it works the same way as the FSX version in regards to modifying the aircraft cofig file. If you are trying to get your FSX version to work in FS9, I don't think you can do that as there are special effects files that have to be written to the sim. If you are trying to install the FS9 version and it is not working, why don't you ask for support on the shockwave site?
  8. John, it was easy to install but you must play a bit with the aircraft config file to get the lights right.(be sure to make a backup first) I cheated a bit in that I used a config from another user off the shockwave forum. This got me going in the right direction. The effect on the Queen is simply amazing. Here are a few screen shots.
  9. Greg, I haven't noticed any frame rate hit in FSX.
  10. Anthony,These lights are for FSX only.
  11. Thanks Dan for the explanation and link. I just never encountered this before or at least didn't notice it.
  12. Hi,I'm not a weather expert by any means, but while flying the other night from KSEA to KSFO I flew through a very thin cloud layer at 31,000 ft. Is this normal? I'm using FSX with ASX.
  13. Congratulation!! Capt. Robert S. Randazzo. I hope to hear from your experiences flying one of the best aircrafts ever built.
  14. What files does it say are missing? Have you tried to re-install it?...deleting everything related, subfolders etc.?
  15. Hi JIm,Thanks for responding.I didn't think I could be the only one to experience this.PMDG,will this be addressed in the next service pack?
  16. It appears that this texture problem has showed up again after my re-install with Acceleration, although I don't believe it was gone now as I previosly posted. After installing the Queen,I held off installing the liveries and quickly jumped into the cockpit to look around to make sure all was well.It looks as though I didn't test all the versions the last time I posted and said it was fixed. When I entered all the passenger versions, everything looked ok when I turned on the dome light, but when I was inside the Cargo versions, all three had the shimmering textures just above the windshield. I've attached a screen shot to show what it looks like and where it is happening. You can only see this when you turn on the dome light.Am I the only person who has this texture anomoly?
  17. Thanks Kav,it's much appreciated.
  18. Glad to hear you got it sorted out Ray. I remember flying that same tutorial some time ago. Theres nothing like that feeling of accomplishment when you bring down a 747 successfully.
  19. Ray,Have you closed up all the discontinuities on the FMC legs page? If not, this could be the cause.
  20. >Is this the performance I have to live with, or did I oversee>something, that could help improving the performance of the>PMDG 747 in FSX?>Hi Thomas,In my opinion, this is not a hardware issue.I have the exact same performance as you do with virtually the same system spec's aside from Vista, which to be realalistic should be sufficient to run FSX and an add-on aircraft. The only time I see an improvement with FPS is when I'm at 30,000 ft. As soon as the ground textures come into play, everything drops.I don't get this problem with any other FSX plane. From what I can see, the computer just can't keep up with the textures of the aircraft for some reason. When you refresh the sim, it takes forever for the aircraft textures to come back again. Just my two cents worth.
  21. No problem Sean. In my opinion ,the more responses the better when there is a problem.Getting back to my original post, seems that I still have this problem. I've noticed that the 747X is very taxing on resources which I'm thinking is related to my problem. The plane will take a very long time to refresh leaving a muddy outline after changing views. When all this catches up and finally does refresh, the sound usually returns to it's normal state. When landing it becomes even worse as the ground textures come into play. So I'm going to assume this is do too the high polygon count in the aircraft.I'm sure my machine is sufficiant to run FSX and the 747X. Mipmapping the aircraft textures has releaved some of it, but it's still there.I haven't come across this problem with other FSX aircraft.
  22. Hi,I'm getting some flickering clouds around the mountanis in southern California.I'm not sure if this is an Active SkyX problem or a scenery problem.
  23. Thanks Armen,I will give that a try. I always wait until it is loaded before I do anything else but it is possible that I didn't.
