  1. Tom, I'm talking about the magdec.bgl file located in your FSX installation directory( just do a search for it). I always keep a back up of this file from a clean installation for times like this. I'm going to try it tonight and will let you know what happens. If this doesn't do it, then the only other resolution is a complete reinstall which no one ever wants to do. :(
  2. I tried this Harry but it didn't work for me. I also tried reinstalling the latest Navdata, still the same. My last option is to replace the magdec.bgl file and see if that changes things. I think this helped me when I had the same problem in FS9.
  3. Hi Tom, I started having this problem just the other night after installing the patch for FSX. I tried 2 attempts landing on runway 23 at CYYZ and both where a degree or so to the left of the runway. Now the FMC showed me lined up properly and tracking the right heading, but it was actually to the left of the runway on the grass.I'm starting to suspect that my navdata base may need to be reinstalled after the patch, so I'm going to try that tonight and then the registry fix to see if that makes it change.
  4. Hi, I just thought I would share my own experiences with OOM and the MD11 for FSX. First, this aircraft in my opinion is the only wide body boeing for FSX that functions as it should as far as flight dynamics, profile and performance are concerned. It even flies a bit better than the 747( not to take anything away from the guys at PMDG, this is called progress and I still have high regard for the aircraft). So bravo PMDG!Now, as far as the OOM issue is concerned, I didn't have one untill I upgraded my ASX to ASA. Now they happen all the time, so I went back to ASX and all was fine. I think, like Ryan has stated, that the aircraft performs excellent on it's own but it depends on what you add to the equation in terms of memory usage :(
  5. Add me to the list. I haven't had one OOM error until I installed ASA.
  6. Ron, I'm not sure what you mean by native resolution but my resolution is set at 1280 X 1024 with the latest NVidia drivers. My card settings are attached. Can you please post yours so I can compare?
  7. Stuart,I'm just curious, why would you want to run the load manager on a seperate pc? It takes up no resource's. You open it, load shut it down and fly.
  8. Has anyone had any problems rebuiding there FSX config file? I decided to rebuild it last night and had some strange behaviour. When I went back into FSX, I lost my Liveries for the MD, then after I launched it, the graphics were shaking so badly, I had to close FSX.I replaced the old config and it's fine again.
  9. Corrie, what operating system are you running?
  10. Johan, are you able to use the load manager ok? And if it is, what's your system spec's? It seems like there are some issues with it.I'm waiting till they can sort it out before I purchase the MD.
  11. >Oh it's been tested and the above was online with plenty of>traffic about. Not seen it below 30FPS yet :) Bill,Just curious, what kind of frame rates do you get at a gate at a very busy airport add-on like Heathrow or Chicago with bad weather and heavy traffic? And what do you have your sliders at in FSX?I'm assuming that you have some of the new FSX airports that are out now. I have a new E8600 with almost every add-on available and only manage to get 10-12 fps at Chicago with the PMDG 747X. This is with FS DREAMTEAMS Chicago airport, ASX(running off a laptop),UTX,etc. The same can be said for Aerosofts Mega airport Heathrow. That being said, the sim runs pretty smooth even at these low frame rates which leads me to believe that it's very hard to judge performance on frame rates alone.
  12. Hi Brett,If you look in your assignments for your devise, you will see that there is a throttle 1 up to 4. Assign each throttle to each one.Reverse thrust is I believe derate quickly. Just look for what is assigned to the f2 key and thats your reverse thrust.Unfortunatly, you can't assign it to each engine so when you deploy it, all 4 engins will activate.Hope that helps.
  13. Hi Carl,Thanks for your response. I did have keys being used in FSX that I was trying to use in the PMDG menu. I thought when it told me that it was in use that it would just override the FSX menu, but I guess it doesn't.When I picked an unused combination, it worked fine. Thanks again.
  14. I would like to assign keys to adjust the altitude, heading and the V/S instead of using my mouse.Within the PMDG menu for keyboard commands, there are fields for Increase Alt and Decrease Alt, also increase SPD and Decrease SPD,and for HDG and V/S.When I assign keys to these, nothing happens. Is there someone out there who has been sucsessful in assigning these? Or am I doing something wrong? Thanks,
  15. I just finished reading a very informative post on textures that I feel everyone should read. First my hat goes off to Michael from FS-GS who started the thread for opening the eyes of the flight sim community. This is a very sensitive area to be discussing as it affects everyone who purchases add-on's to enhance there sim.I learned a lot from that thread in terms or where the developers stand, and what there perception is of the customer. It clarified many things for me with regards to textures and performance issues. From what I gathered from the thread, people who design add-on's for the community , for the most part ,learn this on there own and come up with a technique that may not be as efficient or as good as the other guys. So, if they shared the best techniques or if I may call them , trade secrets, we would start seeing more things hitting the market consistently better in terms of performance , looks etc . which would make for a better product overall...or there could be a standard that everyone could follow for designing textures etc.IMOO, I don't think anyone would be willing to share or teach someone else there trade secrets that they have refined over several years, and pass them off to someone else. At least from a business stand point. But the question still remains. Why do some aircraft developers design in native FSX code and others don't, but claim they have developed it from the ground up? Now after reading that thread, I have more of an understanding why my FSX grinds to a halt after I install my $90 aircraft which many other users have posted about.I guess as a community we could come forward and ask why this is like it is, but knowledge is power, and for me, I feel they have the ability to chop down anything in there path when it would come to a discussion like this. So I'll probably still sit in the shadows but will be armed with more knowledge for any future purchases.I would suggest that anyone who purchases after market add-on's to read this thread so you can understand more in terms of what goes on in your sim and the market place and come more too terms why your flight sim acts the way it does.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=447434&page=
  16. I've come across this utility, http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads-fil...76-details.html ,but can't seem to find it in the Avsim Library. I'm too cheap. I want it to be free if possible.;)
  17. Hi,I'm trying to find a way to keep FSX's time in synch with my time so I don't have to keep hitting the reset button. I'm sure I came across a utility at one ponit but can't seem to find it now.....or can this be controlled within FSX or FSUIPC?Thanks,
  18. An update....I decided to examine the log a little closer last night and discovered what the problem was. What was happening was that ASX was looking for the name of my old FSX machine in the registry. When I corrected this with the name of the new machine, all was working perfectly. Thanks anyway,
  19. Hi,After reinstalling everything the other night, I tried to get my simconnect working again. I must be missing some small entry somewhere. After reading the forum and following everything, double checking everything, I get this error coming up in ASX "Problem writing weather values: The network path was not found.(Error) Source = "I've run the traffic test and it says I'm connected to FSX. ASX seems to work ok up until the point where it tries writing the data to FSX.I've attatched my Xengine Log file. Also, here is what I have my Simconnect file setup like, which resides in My Documents on the Client machine running ASX. The address is from the FSX machine:[simConnect]Protocol=IPv4Address=XXXXXXXXXXPort=500MaxReceiveSize=4096DisableNagle=0..and here is my XML file, which resides on the FSX machine in C:Documents and Settings[username]Application DataMicrosoftFSX :<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>SimConnect Server ConfigurationSimConnect.xmlFalseTruePipeglobal64REPLACE_WITH_PORT_NAMETrueIPv6global64 :: REPLACE_WITH_PORT_NUMBERFalseIPv4global64XXXXXXXXXX 500TruePipelocal64REPLACE_WITH_PORT_NAMETrueIPv6local64::1 REPLACE_WITH_PORT_NUMBERFalseIPv4local64XXXXXXXXXX 500Thanks for the help,
  20. Hi Dieter,What framerates were you getting without the triplehead to go? And, what are your system specs? Without this it will be hard for someone to help you.
  21. Hi Lee,Thanks for the in depth response. You clarified some things and brought my attention to some things I overlooked.
  22. Hi Craig,What I mean is, when I set the crz altitude by the suggested altitude for my weight, I sometimes get a message ( sometimes not till I'm off and climbing) that the Max cruise altitude that I have set is not achievable. When I reset it to just below what it is suggesting, it will sometimes come back and say this is not achievable. Usually once I reset it a second time, it's ok. It doesn't happen all the time. I haven't tried to use the step climb yet as I usually don't have the time to sit there and watch it climb so I usually set the MCP for my set crz Alt which seems to work for me most of the time.
  23. I've RTFM but still seem to get this popping up once in a while.
  24. I'm just wondering if there is a way to calculate the Max CRZ altitude or a program that will do it for me instead of letting the FMC figure it out, then tell me it's set too high. This is in regards to the 747 for FSX.Sometimes I reset it to the FMC's requested level, then it will tell me this is too high and I have to reset it again. Thanks for the help.
