November 9, 200916 yr well ive just tried updating the graphics driver but get exactly the same, what the hell is goin on :(
November 9, 200916 yr Hello again, Try again, only this time we want the program to fail and the notification to happen. When it does and it asks if you wish to send a error report or restart the sim do nothing for the moment; look at the notice and on the lower right you'll see a tab near the send report tab that once clicked will open a window detailing the error. Most importantly it will give you the name of the faulting module or Dll file (as John mentioned ).Make a note of that so you can post that here then just go ahead and close everything. Don't bother reporting it to MS because they no longer have that service operating. As a example, what you should see is something like Fe.dll or something of that sort. As soon as we determine which it is it should not be to difficult to diagnose the problem and fix it. We are getting there! BTW this not a driver, graphics card or hardware issue. This is something in the Flight Sim itself.Best regards,Mel

November 9, 200916 yr HelloHave you installed MS service pack1.Also worth getting Pete Dowsons autosave program(freeware)which at least allows you to resume a CTD flight.Andyif its the xp service pack you mean i have sp 3and i save my flights regulalrly anyway, as with this current error, im loading a flight that was saved about 2 minutes before the crash... when i load the flight to continue its still crashing at the same point.im just installing the fs2004 9.1 update if this is what you meant? worth a try i suppose.
November 9, 200916 yr Hello,This is the important clue of the report atc.dllThe prob seem's come from this library !!Some related discussions :http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=254404http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=72950http://atr.flight1.net/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=3076Regards.Gus.
November 9, 200916 yr Looks like simply installing the 9.1 update seems to off solved the problem! god i feel like such an idiot now!thanks for all the help guys :D
November 9, 200916 yr modname: atc.dll modver: 9.0.0.30612 Offset:0002543fThat's the crucial bit. Something is going wrong with your ATC.I have seen it suggested elsewhere that the problem can be resolved be extracting the original usenglishbig.gvp or usenglishsmall.gvp (according to which you use) file from the installation discs. If you use EditVoicepack this will reset your voices to the default, of course. Try it, and see if it fixes the problem, and only then do an EVP update to include your additional voices again. It also reveals that you appear to have not upgraded to v9.1 as Andy says - see http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en . This should fix a number of issues with the original software as well as add the missing bridges it refers to.JohnPS - not sure what happened with the forum but the previous two posts weren't visible when I wrote the above, which is now largely irrelevant. Glad all is sorted now, anyway. J My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
November 10, 200916 yr Hi Martin, sorry I was away all day. I'm happy to read that all went well though. Don't be hard on yourself, I doubt seriously that your are what you expressed that you felt like. If you learn from this then maybe you can step in like the gentlemen above have and return the favor and help someone someday who is unfortunate enough to need help.Cheers,Mel
November 10, 200916 yr if its the xp service pack you mean i have sp 3and i save my flights regulalrly anyway, as with this current error, im loading a flight that was saved about 2 minutes before the crash... when i load the flight to continue its still crashing at the same point.im just installing the fs2004 9.1 update if this is what you meant? worth a try i suppose.Hello Thats exactly what i meant.I used to have this problem.A flight to Frankfurt would always end in a CTD at exactly the same point into the flight.(near the Rhine i seem to remember). If you look at the list of things the patch was designed to fix one was the seasonal change CTD,which was the one i had and the one it sounds like you where experiencing as well.Anyway i hope it has fixed your problem.PS Apologies for mixing up service packs with 9.1 update.I had even forgotten the name of the thing its so (in computer terms)Jurassic.Andy
