FSGlobal 2008 vs FSGlobal 2010

Featured Replies

I used to use fsglobal 2008, and recently moved to fsglobal 2010.I am no techi on meshes and scenery, so cant help with info there, except to say it looks alright.Boy does it take a long long long time to install the six cd's though, took about 2 hours plus for me to install. Is there no technology that can auto install 6 cd's for you while go watch tv.Or is it possible to copy all 6 cd's on my pc and just auto install from HDD. Having to reinstall this stuff will take longer than fsx and all other addons combined.I can only say fsglobal2010 is better cause it got more data in 6 cd's, as opposed to 3 cd's from fsglobal2008.Still you need to set about 2 hours aside to install this stuff

I've tried both FSGlobal 2008 and 2010.They are nice addons and FSG2010 is a big improvement over 2008.But since I've discovered FSDreamscape I will never change for something else.A bit expensive though but who really flies in the whole world? You can only purchase the regions you are really interested by and they are worth every penny.Just my two cents! Some screenies here

Wow! I never knew this lot existed! You're right - expensive, but it does look good. I'm really tempted by the UK mesh. Going from 76m to 4.75m would make a lot of difference...Ian

I've used FS9 and FSX for a few years now but have never added any 3rd party scenery because I didn't really understand it. I stumbled on this forum and you've peaked my interest. I have a few questions:1. FSX as it is takes quite a while to load a flight (about 45 seconds to a minute to load a flight - what a whiner huh!) With FS Global and the like, what does it do to load up times, smoothness (frame rate) and general performance?2. Any recommendations for which addon to get for someone who has never had addon scenery?3. I'm not sure I understand the whole mesh and 76 vs. 4.75 m concepts. Is there somewhere I can go for a mesh 101 lesson? Thanks

ChuckabobTerrain Mesh 101 via GOOGLE, of course or FSGenesis.I purchased the FSG world package. Justin has explanations of mesh resolution on his site. There are also 10m resolution downloads (free) for Western US that you can try out...or at least there used to be.This is one of those cases where Google is definitely your friend...Loyd

Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
