Page File RAM Going Very High

Featured Replies

I have just re-installed FS2004 clean installation, updated it,then re-installed various Add-Ons such as PMDG,Level-D,Just Flight,Capt Sim,and a variety of sceneries.Prior to re-installing FS2004 from scratch, the last scenery I installed was the Helsinki airport scenery. After the FS2004 re-install I have re-loaded the Aerosoft sceneries for the Canaries,London,Frankfurt,Fly!Tampa sceneries,Imagine sceneries,UK2000 sceneries, and the Helsinki scenery, and FS2Crew.Yet,flying a non-complex aircraft like the CS707 out of Helsinki airport,I soon reached a critical point just before take-off where FS2004 gave up saying I had ruin out of memory.I have a 2.4GHz AMD CPU,3Gb RAM,2x256Mb video cards, etc so the hardware is not an issue, and I have been running FS2004 for months without any issues. All of a sudden, now the Page File Usage goes remarkably high up to 1.8Gb,and I'm running virtually nothing in the backgroound that uses up RAM.Any ideas anyone.Thanks.RICK

Hello,If not .. be sure to have your FS9 patched with FS9.1Also:Disable all your addon's sceneries.Enable again one by one (test between each new scenery enabled) for find the culpritUsually a lack of memory come from bad install scenery or a file in a scenery (memory leak)Make also a search about in this forum .. many posts already there about your problem.Regards.xmas_kt010.gifGus.

If you are using Avast! for your anti-virus, make sure you update to the latest version. There was a "memory leak" associated with a recent version that would eventually consume the page file. This issue was fixed with an update.regards,Joe

Remember also to check for and delete any empty texture directories anywhere in the directory tree under FS2004...they will cause memory leaks. I believe there are several utility programs in the library that will do this. Lots of folks rebuild Rome and forget about all the roadwork they had to do the last time they built it...RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO

Thanks to all you guys. That was a fantastic response. These AVSIM Forums are by far the very best for the very helpful FS community within it.

  1. Have already patched FS9 to FS9.1.Without it the PMDG MD-11 will not run.
  2. Don't run Avast AV program.
  3. The bad memory leak for an empty scenery seems more the culprit coz that flags up when I fire FS2004.Same thing happened immediately on previous FS2004 just after installing the MD-11 before the complete clean re-install.
  4. CPU usage is very low, less than 16%,so the suggestions you guys have given me points me where to look.

Thanks once moreRICK
