MD-11 freeze in FSX

Featured Replies

Hi,I do not know why my MD-11 start freezibg for about 5-15 second then it start running again.I have tweak my FSX and Windows according NickN settings,I have1TB HD 3400 MB memoryNVidia 9.6The FSX only freeze when I use MD-11.Anyone have a solution to this behaviar ??Par Bensered

Those "freezes" are most likely also know as stutters. It happens when the CPU cannot keep up with the picture and the graphics processor sorta enters a holding pattern. Try backing off some of the eye candy and see if that helps.

Hi Dan,I have done as U said and moved the bars almost to the end of left side = no change. Then I disable most of my add-on scenerys like, Global 2010, Brazil Mega Citys, mesh around Caribbean and S. America as I do my flying there = no change. Frame 15-45It still freeze about 5-10 second then start running again. This happen when flying MD-11 for FSX.I chance to CLS MD Douglas 10-40, added all the scenerys and start Active Sky X and turn all the bars 75% to right side and start the same flight and now everything runs smooth and nice, no stutters. Frame 25-65, at the AP 25-35 and at FL320 50-65I use nHancer the latest version 2.5.7 and have set the options suggested by nNick, and as I said before also tweaking Windows XP settings so the problem seams to be a PMDG issure, but what ?? I have install the latest update from PMDG about 2-4 mounth ago.My computer, graphic card and memory, latest NVidea drivers should be good anouth to run MD-11. What to do ???Par Bensered ESGG

Try to defrag the drive you are running FSX from

My FPS with the MD-11 is arounf 35-60FPS with maxed out graphics, I have a Q9650 running at 3.6ghz and 8 ghz of 1000mhz ram and 2 9800 gtx + 1gb video cards with windows xp 64 bit. I often get a blank white screen when i exit to the loader in windows then maximize FSX, any ideas?I had a horrible problem with the md-11 about a year ago. all sorts of freezes, graphics artifacts, fs2 crew problems. i exhausted all effots and had to format my harddrive to get the md-11 to work again. it took me a few days to install windows and all my programs again.

White screen or Cream Screen of Death CSOD is a know FSX bug with no known cure. However when exiting FSX full screen to access the desk top use Alt+Enter and not Alt +Tab also tweak your system per Nick N http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041

Is that a single core processor? My 3Ghz P4 single core always stuttered in FSX with the 747 but the MD11 was smoother... just had to finally make the step up. Built it myself this time and saved over 60% for similar performace from OEM.

The Intel Q9650 is an awesome processor for FSX. I went from a Q9300 to a Q9650 and the performance increase was amazing. The upgrade from a Q9650 to a Q9650X is very expensive. I have an average FPS with the MD-11 in Hong Kong Kai Tak with REX and maxed out graphics (water 2x low) and fly through the approach with 25-30 FPS and 55-70FPS at cruising altitude. Often time you will have to upgrade your mobo to something compatible with the extreme edition Q9650X, and buy DDR3 RAM. I have mine overclocked on stock voltage to 3.6GHZ with 12 GB of OCZ DDR2 Sli-ready memory @ 1000MHZ with 5/4/4/15 timings. If you don't have $1000+ for a CPU and about another $300 for a compatible motherboard I would go for the Q9650.

The q9550 is also really good value, and I'm sure you can make it run in the 3.8-4ghz range without too much problem. You might need a proper cpu cooler tho, like the Thermalright Ultra Extreme or the Noctua NH-U12P, the stock cooler is no good for overclocking

Hi Leffe and John,Leffe, were in Sweden do you live ? I'm in GothenburgMy CPU are a AMD Athlon 64-processor 3700+ 2.2 GHzWindows Home XP 32-bit4GB MemoryJohn, I have defrag it with O&O according to nNick, I also use the Patch 4GB that PMDG manual suggested. (Intro manual)What do you think, cane I try to upgrade the processor to a faster one or do I have to wait till I cane afford to buy a new computer with Windows 7 and a good motherbord and processor.I cane not overclock with my MB...signPar Bensered
