Help - AFCAD not working right

Featured Replies

You know when you are at a airport and you open AFCAD for the airport you are at and there is a red cross that shows where your plane is at the airport? Well on my AFCAD the red cross is not showing up. How do I get the red cross to show? I recently switched to Windows 7. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. And I am using FS9.Nothing like this has happened when I had Windows XP.

How are you opening the Afcad for which airport? ... and where do you normally see the red "X"?I will open the same airport and take a look also.

The Afcad program needs to be linked to FS9 via FSUIPC so that your aircraft's position (the red cross) can be positioned in the AFCAD map correctly.Hans

Oh that why it isn't working. I recently got a new computer and I started from scratch and did a clean install of FS9 on the new computer. I completely forgot to re install FSUIPC. Good thing I have everything backed up on a external drive!

Your "aircraft" (the red x) does not automatically display in Afcad - you must click on the padlock icon at the top in the menu bar and of course FSUIPC must be installed also so Afcad can get the coordinates from the sim.Clicking on the padlock "syncs" you aircraft's position to Afcad - it is explained in the Help file. If this is not working, then it may be a Win 7 "permissions" issue.

By the way, one of the "fun" things you can do with Afcad is this:Set up a simple flight and land and taxi to your parkings spot. Then invoke Instant replay for the last minute or two of that flight.Have Afcad up and running and "locked" to the sim. Switch to Afcad while the replay is running (set it to repeat) and watch the red arrow "land" and taxi to the parking spot. This exercise serves no real purpose but it is a break from the usual routines. :(

Opa,Thanks for the information .. I found the red "X" and the help file.Works great!Very much like the red "X" in the MSFS map view.Have a good day.
