February 1, 201016 yr I am running the same settings as you with a Track IR, Core I7, Eyefinity(5040 x 1050) with a 5970 card and I have noticed some tearing but what you are describing sounds really distracting. In truth I haven't noticed anything like that.Overall the card had improved my framerates and allowed me to use the bloom plugin again and I am very happy with it.The only gripe I have is that the card chokes on Supersampling bringing framerates down from around 30 over default terrain to the low teens.I noticed some tearing when I first got it all sorted out, but once I overclocked the card and updated the driver it has been pretty smooth sailing, the occasional tear but nothing immersion-breaking.I had a GTX 285 that did a good job, but triple head made my monitors run at 57Hz, and I couldn't use the bloom plugin, on the other hand I was using 4x AA with Supersampling which looked smoother than 8x which is what I am using now.
February 1, 201016 yr Well I just tested renaming the EXE and forcing Vsync through Game Profile in ATITrayTools so far so good. I wasn't getting the re-render where the screen would turn black when I changed views outside or made the menu bar appear. The bad part is the 2D panel was black, haven't tried 2D popups yet either. I'm testing VSync through the 3D Profile only in ATiTrayTools and will report when I finish testing.EDIT: Well it looks like the only solution is to force it and doing that will cause redraws/re-render when switching to certain views, but this is only for 1 or 2 secondsThe best way is to rename the FSX.EXE to something else though and set Vsync through CCC or ATiTrayTools. I renamed it to HL2.exe . If you rename it and set it, the black screens occur less often, go away faster, and the screen doesn't blink multiple times. I suggest the OP try it out and see if they like it that way. I also tested if simconnect would still work (I used Plan-G on a different laptop) with a renamed exe, and it worked perfectly so it looks like there should be no problems :(.
