January 31, 201016 yr Maybe this may be the easiest problem to solve, but I am having trouble with it. This happens on some airports:Any ideas? It looks like the AFCAD parking locations are being displayed on the sim. Any way I can fix this? Thanks in advance,Macs
January 31, 201016 yr Looks to me like the developer added custom ground textures for helipads. What is the download filename and where did you get it?I suspect it's supposed to look like this.regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.

They actually are AFCAD parking spots (they even look like that on AFCAD program). This actually happens on other sceneries for some reason (not on all though). The Scenery in this case is of UHSS (Khomutovo) in the island if Sakhalin in eastern Russia. I had it installed on my previous computer, and it did not have these markings, I wonder if it has anything to do with installing AFCAD...THanks for your help, regards,Macs
February 1, 201016 yr I wonder if it has anything to do with installing AFCAD...The program named Afcad2.21 has nothing to do with the textures displayed in the sim.Does this happen at any default airports?I suspect this is a texture issue. Maybe an addon has replaced a default texture.regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.

It is a texture problem, for sure, but the weird thing is that it has never happened before (same scenery, just new install), and the H's are the parking spots for AFACAD (weird). Anyway, i'll check some more on the scenery files. Thanks again for your help, regards,Macs

This is all very well - its an easy (and lazy) way to make airports look more realistic, but I'm always reluctant to allow over-writing of default textures as they could affect any airport in the world that you may have using that feature. (What I resent is that many have autoinstallers that over-write those files without a whisper!)It is clear that you have exercised caution and not over-written your textures so you are seeing the default ones at these airports. The easiest solution is to open the file in AFCAD and delete every example of that symbol in the airport. It will not affect anything other than the way it looks. The alternative (if you choose) is to re-install the scenery and allow it to replace the files concerned.John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org

A problem I was having also was that AFCAD for some reason cannot over write existing files (in VISTA at least), but I manually copied to location and that did the trick. Thanks for your help, regards,Macs
February 1, 201016 yr You've probably come up against Vista's User Access Control option of write protection under any files under the Program Files folder (and any sub folders) on any drive. Make a shortcut to AFCAD and set the shortcut property to run as admin. If your FS is in any Program File folder following down the folder tree all of the scenery files are protected in that folder tree.In Vista if you are not worried about the security of other users working on your PC you can turn UAC off. It is better for on-line purposes to leave it on just in case malware gets implanted that makes it through your security applications.
