Consistent CTDs in Hong Kong

Featured Replies

Hello,I've been getting consistent CTDs in the Hong Kong areas with the MD11 (fs9). I dont seem to get CTDs with the 744.I suspect some faulty SID/STAR txt file.I have installed ImagineSim VHHH and FlyTampa KaiTak VHHX. My question is: can a faulty SID/STAR cause CTDs with the PMDG_MD11.gau error? That's the file I had involved in the CTD everytime.I've been doing complete flights from EGLL to LSZH and then LSZH to LSGG for test purpose, no CTD, everything went fine.So I suspect something is wrong near Hong Kong. Each time the Sim crashed with the PMDG_MD11.gau file, I had either VHHH or VHHX or both loaded into the FMS.I double checked the NAVDATA entries I added for VHHX, everything looks ok.I am using the VHHX SID/STAR from Navdata, written by Gary Law, Jacky Wan and eidted by Thomas Lau (12/07/2007).If anyone have any idea, I'd appreciate. If someone can confirm that a SID/STAR txt file can cause CTD indeed, then I'll try to remove the VHHX files and see what happen. Thanks in advance.Arnaud S

Highly unlikely - the MCDU has an error catching system that reports "ERROR AT LINE X" if something's wrong with the sid/star file. Much more likely is some sort of issue in the scenery. The fact that the crash dialog says PMDG_MD11.gau doesn't really tell you much, we've definitely seen that sort of thing before for scenery related crashed. If you want to check the sid/star file though, just remove it and fly without it and see what happens.

duplicate afcad files?

Thank you, I wanted to make sure before I search any further. It just came to my mind this morning that I had recently installed some chinese sceneries in the area that might be the culprit (Shenzhen and the new Guanzou).

The MD-11 doesn't have that, only the two Boeings. The MCDU will simply give you a blank page on error. Never ran into a sidstar file that could cause a CTD.

Agreed with all of the above. It's a pretty intense scenery area. I've had problems there before, too.

I think I've sorted this. I was having issues with the old and new ZGGG, added by a replacement asia/scenery .bgl from some China Scenery, and had renamed one afcad. I reverted everyhting to defaut and the CTDs are gone for now.So obviously no problems with KaiTak and Imagesim VHHH, nor with the SID/STAR files.
