February 6, 201016 yr Hi Guys - Im thinking of installing Acceleration into FSX.I have SP2 already, and i understand you have to remove SP2 before installing Acceleration.Would it be better for performance reasons to start clean and remove the lot?Does Accel include SP1 and 2?Also, iv seen the Gold Edition of FSX that includes Acceleration. Is this set FSX with the Acceleration disk seperate, or does it install it all in one go?Thank you for your help in this. :) Adrian Burley London, UK

Acceleration (which contains SP1 & 2) and SP2 are virtually the same with the difference being carrier ops and F18A Hornet, EH-101 Helicopter and P-51 in the expansion pack. Some users, me included, have experienced degraded frame rates with imaginesim products and Acceleration. I haven't the foggiest idea why this is the case since SP2 is supposed to be the same patch (minus the expansion add-ons). Wish I knew more about how FSX Gold is packaged, but I assume its separate DVDs. Ryan Kelly

I know it has something to do with night lighting or night textures but why it is only an issue with acceleration is very confusing. February 6, 201016 yr Author I have the gold edition, and it is separate disks and installs for FSX and acceleration.Thank you for letting me know. So With FSX Gold, is Acceleration an optional part of the install? Can you leave it out if you want to? Adrian Burley London, UK
February 6, 201016 yr You do not need to perform clean installation. Simply uninstall SP2 and then install Acceleration.
February 7, 201016 yr Thank you for letting me know. So With FSX Gold, is Acceleration an optional part of the install? Can you leave it out if you want to?FSX deluxe edition and Acceleration are independent. Acceleration needs FSX but FSX does not need Acceleration even if you get the FSX gold edition. If you have FSX with SP2, uninstall SP2 and install Acceleration if you want it. If you have FSX deluxe edition and want Acceleration, just purchase Acceleration, not FSX gold edition. A clean install is not necessary unless your current FSX installation is messed up. Art
