March 16, 201016 yr It's not so simple when each frame is dependent upon the results of the previous frame, i.e. inter-frame dependency. So that's why the 2 GPU cards (at least on the ATI side) tend to have more stuttering as the GPUs try to render frames independently and thus slightly out of sync with each other accross the GPUs causing the stutters?Cheers,- jahman.
March 17, 201016 yr Indeed. Multiple GPUs tend to exacerbate the issue of uneven frame rendering times due to the extra latency and overhead that are incurred in multi-GPU systems.
March 17, 201016 yr Been running a 5870 for 2 weeks on 10.2 drivers and it's just great. In fact I have a brand new gtx285 in a box but will probably sell it as this model is getting long in the tooth now. The 5870 trounces the 285 performance-wise and is a similar price. I use it with adaptive AA and catalyst AI with FSX. It just runs whatever I throw at it, and I'm happy to say eats stuff like Crysis for breakfast. Then again it should do as it's currently holds the title of the fastest single gpu card on the market! Anyway it always takes a few months of driver updates before a new card works at it's best. ;-)
