ILS approach does not line up with runway center line

Featured Replies

i have just noticed that the ILS feathers for some airport runways in FSX don't line up. As a result the ILS approach is to the side and not the centre of the runway. 16L at YSSY and 27 at WADD are two examples of this happening. Is there a fix for this? Thanks in advance.

YSSY I think is a bug, but for WADD looking at it in Google I think that the localizer might have been moved from the location shown in FSX (offset on left of runway) to the more normal centerline location (see attachments). I think there is an "AFCAD" in the library for YSSY but I didn't see anything for WADD. You could use ADE if you have the FSX sdk to move the ILS.Note that offset localizers are unusual but do exist so check a chart (if you can find it) before assuming it is a bug.scott s..

YSSy does have one ILS set incorrectly . I have a fix. The other 3 are ok . I believe it was 16 L

Thanks Scott
Scott you were spot on, took your advice downloaded ADE9x and moved the localizer at WADD and changed the direction of the ILS at YSSY now both are perfect. Thanks for your adviceAndrew

And too, this is why you need that minimum visual approach at most airports. If the localizer is offset, the minimum visual gives you, the pilot, time to get lined up 100% correctly.

Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.

A number of real world airports do have localisers that are offset or not aligned with the runway. Details are always noted on the charts. It's always worth checking the charts before assuming that FS is in error.
