March 21, 201016 yr An alternative is available over at FlightSim.com: "fsmgr.zip".The only problem with using this "patch" is that FSM must be installed on your C drive - installed elsewhere it will not work.
March 21, 201016 yr I know. Another alternative is RunAsDate, I used it when FSM wasn't installed on the C drive. Mike...
March 21, 201016 yr The only problem with using this "patch" is that FSM must be installed on your C drive - installed elsewhere it will not work.Actually, I believe that if your FS9 istall is ANYWHERE other than the usual C: install location it won't work. 64 bit user can confirm this. :) Smooth Skies! -- Chuck B. March 21, 201016 yr Actually, I believe that if your FS9 istall is ANYWHERE other than the usual C: install location it won't work. That's not true. FS9 is installed here on S:\Flight Simulator 9\. FSM "patched" works fine. Mike...
March 21, 201016 yr That's not true. FS9 is installed here on S:\Flight Simulator 9\. FSM "patched" works fine.I believe we were just quoting what the author of the "patch" said in his documentation:quoteCopy and paste both files (FSMGR.EXE and FSMGR.DLL) in FlighSimManager folder witch should be C:\Program Files\Ranainside\FlightSimManager. If the prog is not located on C:drive, it is better to change the date to 2006 and reinstall the setup on the C: drive otherwise it will not run. end quoteIf it works elsewhere then all is well. I use the date changer approach myself.
March 21, 201016 yr I believe we were just quoting what the author of the "patch" said in his documentation:No, you weren't. You were talking about FSM, which does indeed need to be installed as per the readme or it will not work, I know that from my own experience. Chuck is talking about FS9's install location... The read me does not talk about that ("If the prog" as in FSM, not FS9). And from my own personal experience I can tell you as well that FS9 does not need to be installed in its default install location for the patched FSM to work.:( Mike...
March 21, 201016 yr Hoo boy. Didn't mean to start anything here . . . that's why I said "I believe . . ." and didn't state as fact. I'll try to be more clear in the future. All I know is a long long time ago (in an FS9 install far, far away) I tried to use a "patched" .exe file on my XP64 OS, and it didn't work because it couldn't find my FS9 installation under the x86 programs directory. I've been successfully and happily using the .bat file ever since. . . Smooth Skies! -- Chuck B. March 21, 201016 yr It was problably a 32 vs. 64-bit thing. By the way, did you not mean yourself, when you said "64 bit user can confirm this"? Hoo boy. Didn't mean to start anything hereWhy would you say that? Surely on internet forums one can engage in discussion like postings without the need for said musings to be followed by a qualifier (i.e. a smiley) lest aformentioned thoughts be misconstrued as anything but incessant banter?Savvy?:(If anyone started anything, it would be David who tends to overdo it, which can get a little tiresome on occasion. If a readme mentions something, he likes to spell it out just in case anyone missed it, repeatedly. If you mention editing the registry, he will tell you to be carefull. If you give an answer to a question, he might just give it again. How many posters does it take to contact Ray Smith?:(Banter... :( Mike...
March 21, 201016 yr How many posters does it take to contact Ray Smith?I guess I owe you an apology.......When I started my response to the OP's question, you had not yet posted. I was interrupted during the composition of my reply (for over ten minutes) thus it ended up being posted "after" your response.Sorry you feel my responses are sometimes "tiresome" - I shall strive for brevity in the future. :(
March 21, 201016 yr Which thread are you referring to, because I have never posted in the Ray Smith thread. Not sure how it could refer to this FSM thread, although to be honest, I have lost track. :( Mike...
