March 27, 201016 yr Author My final question:Is my motherboard compatible with my harddrive? Motherboard: ASUS P7P55-MHarddrive: Samsung 750GB SATA F1 HD753LJ 7200 32mbIn the bios specifications of the motherboard it says 16mb flash memory, does this have anything to do with the maximum speed of the harddrive? So would I be better of buying a harddrive with 16mb? John Badal

March 27, 201016 yr Author Thank you everybody for helping me make the right decisions for buying a new pc!John Badal
March 28, 201016 yr Everyone is glad to contribute John. I certainly hope you stuck with your original graphics card. The 4GB ram (matched pair of 2GB modules) will be helpful even with a 32 bit operating system, which should recognize around 3.5GB. At least Vista or better does...I'm not sure about XP. Art
March 28, 201016 yr Author You got me reconsidering about the gpu. I'm planning on installing xp 32bit and fsx with the usual. FSX + Accel. is the main game I'll be playing. Considering all of the above, would you go for the GTS250, GTX260 or an ATI card? This is my final question, when I know which card I'm taking, I'm ordering the pc.John Badal
March 29, 201016 yr don't install a 32bit OS, you'll want a 64bit one with the amount of RAM you have (and need)I'd get a GTX260 over a gts250. Try for a GTX 275 if you can though. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

It's a money pit... :( "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
March 30, 201016 yr Author And choosing between a GTX260 and 275? I guess the 275 right? Is the GTX275 the 'best' for fsx at the moment, I don't want to buy something which is going to be a dissapointment.John Badal
March 30, 201016 yr John, the 400 series cards are coming out shortly, and the 200 series cards are getting scarce (what happened to 300 series?). The GTX 275 is the hardest to find. I do see the EVGA GTX 260-896mb superclocked card as an option at a little over $200 if you can't find the 275. Either one will handle your needs fine. If you don't have a budget problem, the GTX 285 cards are plentiful. Maybe someone else has seen a better deal somewhere. Art
