KSEA hidden under hills

Featured Replies

I haven't been to Seattle Tacoma for a few months. In the meantime I have installed FS Global 2010 and SceneryTech landclass.I have downloaded two AFCAD files for this airport, none of them allows me to take off from there...Whole airport is covered in hills.Look how the airport looks:How to cure this hub?Which program should be responsible for this?

Something (?) has taken out / overridden the default flatten, so the terrain just resumes it's shape. I'd start a process of elimination, by removing the "AFCADs". Mesh, in and by itself, will not affect the flattens around an airport. I don't know if the mesh product ships with any revised elevation files, but I would check for some. Any file trying to modify the elevation *should* be in the \Scenery\World\scenery folder.

It is not the landclass for sure - I have disabled it, but the problem is still there. There is no AFCADs, so it should be FS Global 2010 or improper layering in terrain.cfg.EDIT - I have disabled all but default layers in FSX and still the same :/

Hello,I have the exact same problem. It seemed to happen after I installed ORBX NA Blue. I do not have FS Global installed or landclass. I do have GEX and UTX but was not having problems before. I also installed some freeware add ons around the same time I installed NA Blue so I don't think NA Blue has anything to do with the hills. When I click on the NA Blue textures (in FTX control) the hills at KSEA go away. It's only when using the FSX default textures that I see them. Sorry I do not have a solution but I am having the same problem as you with different add-ons installed. Mark

MarkP3637 - You remind me, that I do have FTX NA. I keep it switched off. I will rename the ORBX folder and check if it helps. If not, I will enable the FTX Mode.EDIT - Look at this topic: http://orbxsystems.com/forums/index.php?topic=19964.0So it is ORBX issue.

Good to know. I was going to uninstall the freeware programs I had added but you saved me the time doing that now that I know it is ORBX. Thank you for the link. It looks like they are going to fix this problem but for now I will try that fix, or just fly with FTX mode enabled.Mark

The problem is Orbx installs Mesh files in your World scenery folder, which are not turned off when you disable PNW through the FTX Central utility. Orbx I believe is aware of this problem and should be fixed in an update. For now if you want to disable PNW you need to remove (or move) the mesh files it installs. I believe they are for the airports. When you want to re-enable PNW Move them back, or reinstall PNW using the repair option.Edit: Just noticed BartEnder already posted this - Didn't mean to step on anyone's toes!

Thanks

Guys,I don't understand you.ORBX PNW is the region in which ksea is situated. You install PNW and then you go and disable it when you fly out of Seatlle...?Why not keeping it enabled? When you fly out of the PNW region, the default textures and mesh take over where PNW ends... no sweat.just my 2 cents here.Luc BrusselmansBelgium

Luc,One reason could be that possibly some of us may want to fly a framerate heavy aircraft in the PNW with FTX inactive or do side by side comparisons of FTX versus some other scenery/texture set. As already stated FTX Central will be fixed so that when FTX PNW is inactive, it is indeed inactive.
