April 6, 201016 yr I recently bought an aircraft that is being a pain. The aircraft has loaded now two out of four times. Two timesit has caused FSX to encounter a 'fatal error' and my system seemed unstable so I rebooted. Now, I figured that a guage problem would be solvable by looking at the panel and gauges. I appear to be wrong. I commented out all of the gauges loaded in the panel config and I still gotall of the errors and after a while the aircraft loaded with all of the main gauges (airspeed, RPMs, compass, altitude, etc)still in the panel. Some gauges were missing. (the ones I commented out)I know very little about panels and gauges. What I would like to know is where the gauges would be if they arent in the panel folder in the gauges cab file?Im not talking about gauges that are included in the default FSX installation. every gauge mentioned in the panel configfile seem to be working fine. Are gauges ever built into the model? Are the problems in the MDL file?Id love to have this solved by the developers but they seem to have closed up shop right now and Ive done all that I can.but I would like to know from someone who knows -- how likely is it that my gauges are built into the model? The errors I get say "gauge not loading. Error:undefined variable name: PAYLOAD STATION WEIGHT;1" and then it willsay "gauge not loading. error: invalid variable name: PAYLOAD STATION WEIGHT;1" (this isnt exact wording but its close)It does it ten times when I try to select the aircraft. It does it ten more when I click "OK". and then it does it ten morewhen it goes to put it inthe aircraft selection window. After the aircraft is loaded succesfully, I can then select differentpaint jobs and such and reload it without trouble.id like for it to be fixed but I dont know how. i mostly just have that question I asked a minute ago. other than thatIll just be waiting and hoping that the developers come back online and have a solution.Note: this plane says its for FSX/SP1/SP2/Accelleration. I have FSX Acceleration.in doing a quick search, it appears that "PAYLOAD SATION WEIGHT" is a FS2004 variable (or earlier). Was it discontinued? | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. April 7, 201016 yr Author The plane is IRIS's Christen Eagle. I really love it but I dont want to deal with the gauge errors.Considering all the undefined and invalid variable errors, im surprised more people havent had this problem but I seem to be one of the few. At least the plane does work for me some of the time. It doesnt seem to me to be the type of error that would be system specific. but I dont really know.Hopefully IRIS will bring its website back up and I can find a way to contact somebody about it. | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. He might have an answer or way of contacting the developers.
April 8, 201016 yr Moderator I see from the list of features: All new 3D gauges designed from the Christen blueprints. So, there's your answer. The gauge "code" is built into the model, although there is undoubtedly at least one application gauge that's loaded as well, as it would be the one attempting to access the payload weight section of the aircraft.cfg file. I know you're a guage programmer and I know very little about gauges. I have assumed that many of the gauges are built in to the model. There is no 2d panel. Some of the gauges in the virtual cockpit can be made to dissappear when commented out of the panel config. Most (if not all) of the main gauges are still there so I assumed they were built into the model but I wasnt sure. What do you mean by 'application gauge'? Do you mean one of the ones that came with FSX or is it some gauge that 'talks' between ...? I dont really know.Let me just say that, klipper08 - I appreciate the link. I may follow up on that. but I have found a workaround. My problem was exacerbated by the way I use FSX. i always loaded my previous saved flight and then changed aircraft. Being that I was in full screen mode, the error messages would be 'hidden' and my system would become unstable. If I simply make sure I only select the plane from the free flight menu, then I can 'cancel the errors and all is well.Bill - Im going to check the aircraft config and look for the payload section. would you please tell me (just becuase Im curious and like to learn) where a variable like PAYLOAD STATION WEIGHT would and should be defined? I feel like Im looking for a header file somewhere. but I suspect its been compiled into the model. Why everyone doesnt have these error messages is a mystery to me. Surely if a variable is undefined on one system then it would be undefined on everyones system.but like I said...Ive found a reliable workaround and this is not a major issue for me anymore. but yet Im still curious about it.thanks klipper08 and Bill for the help. Ed - thanks for posting. | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. There's always a sunset happening somewhere in the world that somebody is enjoying.

I dont really know. What I mean by "application gauge" is one that isn't visible anywhere at all, but remains loaded via an entry in the panel.cfg file's [VCockpitnn] section.Since XML script (which is used for the modeled gauges) has no file input/output capacity, such "application gauges" or "modules" are used to provide the needed interface between XML scripted "gauges" and the sim's panel system. April 18, 201016 yr Author just a quick update on this:The errors I get are as follows:The title of the window is "Panel or Gauge error" and then in the window it says:Gauge:No gauge loadingError: Undefined Simulation Variable: "PAYLOAD STATION WEIGHT;1" .(Choose Cancel to ignore all errors) <OK> <Cancel>Now then...it seems to me that my problem is very system specific and shouldnt even exist. There is a semicolon where there should bea colon (PAYLOAD STATION WEIGHT semicolon 1).somehow, on my system, a colon got turned into a semicolon. I dont have a clue how. Ive downloaded the program twice. Ive installed four times. its always the same. luckily the workaround is very easy. its just very strange. There must be some language interpreter that works in conjunction with the installer and on my system, it misinterprets the code. I dont know.anyway, this is just to wrap this up. thanks to all who tried to help. | Dave | I've been around for most of my life.
