Messed up characters on the MFDs

Featured Replies

Hi guys!As you can see in the screenshots below some of the characters/numbers/letters are messed up and replaced by some strange characters instead. I've noticed this on my last flight and haven't seen this before. A couple of days ago I installed the MD-11 version of FS2Crew so maybe this problem is caused by FS2Crew (dropped the same question in their forum as well) but since I don't know if the problem is caused by FS2Crew or the MD-11 itself I though I ask in here too. Thanks in advance for any input/help!Capture.jpgCapture1.jpgCapture2.jpg

Richard, this is a font problem but I don't remember which font file is involved. Maybe trying a repair or reinstall, or searching the md11 subforum on keyword font.

I remember seeing this discussed recently and a reinstall/repair helped since I think the font is part of the install, or something along those lines.I've been trying to fix my own pfd issue as you can see here...dfd.jpgIt is growing on me though, so may just leave it as is :(

Wow, that's one amazing PFD :( Does someone know where the font files for the MD-11 MDUs are installed because I keep a complete backup of my FSX folder and maybe I could simply replace the font files with the same files from my backup. If that's not possible I will try a reinstall of both the MD-11 and FS2Crew.

:( boys will be boys...How 'bout completing the picture with some good old-fashioned nose art?Cheers,Jan Peter

Hi Richard, I would just back up your aircraft.cfg and do a reinstall of the MD-11 on top of itself. It shouldn't remove any new liveries you have but probably will rewrite the aircraft.cfg so you'd want to put yours back in after the reinstall so it has all your liveries.I'm glad people like my PFD. Let's just say "It's in beta :(" I've never had so much fun lining up the FD. The only issue with it is if you don't compliment her hair or her boots she may walk off the display at any time and is a real pain when you're manually flying the ILS :( Also, you need to make small adjustments and keep your movements smooth or she'll get turned off rather quickly and won't let you proceed with your approach.

First I tried restoring my backup of the FSX folder but the problem was still present afterwards so then I went for a repair which fixed the problem so now everything is back to normal. Next step will be to install FS2Crew for the MD-11 again and see if the fonts keep looking good after that...I hope they will!

Brian York was on the MD11 beta team, his add-on should be very stable. Hope the repair did the trick for you Richard.

Yes, after the repair of the MD-11 and then reinstalling FS2Crew all is still good - thanks for asking!
