April 22, 201016 yr I create a f-plan using fsbuild, and it includes both sid & star. (FSX acceleration).I check the whole plan and everything is in place for an autoland. (eg. EGLL).My question is do I have to reinput the star before the landing phase to get it to be active, or is it already active from when I entered it at the gate of my origin airport?I ask because I have encountered a few trips where I could not get the autoland to work. I could not intercept the localizer nor could I get the Glideslope to come alive. It seems to me that everything is in order. I do not know what I am doing wrong here, and would appreciate some advice or hints. Thanks Waleed N
April 22, 201016 yr Commercial Member The star has nothing to do with Autoland, the aircraft can autoland without you even programming the FMC. The only basic requirements are a valid ILS signal either auto tuned through selecting the correct runway or manually tuned through the RAD/NAV page.Regards Rob Prest
April 22, 201016 yr You will have to select the type of Approach you want, or atleast check it has the one you want selected, in your case ILS (eg select, rwy xx ILS). Otherwise it wont auto tune the ILS freq and the profile decent probably wont match to suit the final fix for the ILS. Otherwise just manually enter the ILS freq in the RAD/NAV page of the FMC (as Rob above mentioned). You could also turn on the ILS ident on the radio panel so when the ILS is tuned you will hear the indent sound (morse) to confirm it has identified the ILS, it will will show on the PFD. April 22, 201016 yr I recommend not using flightplan software to add SIDs or STARs; rather, use the tool to build the enroute segments and then add the terminal procedures using the FMS. This ensures you will be getting the current routes, waypoints and constraints from either navigraph or the customized procedures such as Yingling's, Bell's or mine. Dan Downs KCRP
