mscomctl.ocx Error

Featured Replies

Rc4 is WORKING:Problem was W7 UAC. I was keep getting error msg regarding registering "mscomctl.ocx"or not I forgot how many times I registered and received registration completed verification, still I received the error msg. Then I shot down UAC and opened the RC4, this time I received different Error 713 msg. I followed the JD top of the post Pinned list for Error 713 solution. Now RC4 is working perfect. If I activate UAC RC4 stop working and keep getting " registering "mscomctl.ocx" error.

thats why the instructions said to start the command window as admin (ctrl-shift-enter), which is the only way to register the dll or ocx. of course turning off uac is another way, not a good way, not something you want to do on an ongoing basis. i hope you turn UAC back on!jd

Hi there,Glad to see Sanal has his problems sorted, I am not so lucky. Have reloaded RC4 on server, rather than client (just in case there was an issue with Wide FSUIPC and 64bit server and 32bit client) and it has loaded O.K.Have set the path and RC4 finds the pln file but now getting the 713 error as per the pinned post (msstdfmt.dll). The sysWOW64 folder is definitely in the Windows folder, have used Ctrl/shift/enter to open the CMD window and it opens as Administrator, and then followed your pinned instructions. So possibly not a 64bit/32bit or related FSUIPC conflict after all.Unfortunately AVSIM download facility is down at the moment so can't presently post screen-shots. I'm not hugely computer literate so it's probably an error on my part but I can't see where. Will post screen-shots ASAP.Any advice in the meantime would be appreciated.Ken

is it msstdfmt.dll that is in the message on your system? or a different file?send me a screen shot of the dos window, to [email protected] you open the dos window as admin type the following 3 commandscd %windir%\syswow64dir msstdfmt.dllif it says file not found, we have a problem. if the file is there, typeregsvr32 msstdfmt.dll /uregsvr32 msstdfmt.dllscreen shot of the dos window with the results off all 4 commands to [email protected] msstdfmt.dll

Hi JD,Followed your instructions and get message 'file not found'.Have checked again that there is a C:\Windows\sysWOW64 folder and a System32 folder. Have gone further and checked 'show hidden file and folders' in Control Panel and then done a complete search on the computer and it is not found.Unfortunately the AVSIM download site is still down for updates. So it sounds like the file is missing - is there anywhere I can download it?Thanks for all your help.Regards,Ken
