April 28, 201016 yr I'm pretty happy with my new Simcheck A300 (as a refreshing alternative from my highly automated MD-11). But like many other developers use to do, Simcheck didn't add much information and handbook material to the product. The information they provided may be sufficient to successfully handle the plane in most (normal) situations, but it's way too less for my taste. So, I'm looking for more documentation for that old Airbus type. Since I didn't find anything yet, I'm addressing a good part of the flightsim community now: Anyone knows of a good source of A300 manuals or can provide me with some? A pretty complete FCOM would do, of course :(. Andreas, LOWW - Nihil sumus et fuimus mortales. Respice, lector: In nihil ab nihilo quam cito recidimus.
April 28, 201016 yr Have you had a look here: http://www.smartcockpit.com/plane/airbus/A300A310/ ? Tom Risager NGX tutorial: http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?Location=AVSIM&Proto=ftp&DLID=162360 SIDs & STARs Worked Examples: LOWI-UUDD, KSEA-KLAX, EKCH-ENGM, YSCB-YPAD
April 28, 201016 yr I was just about to recommend the smartcockpit site as well. You can make yourself sick from trying to read all the manuals on that site.Keith Keith Guillory
April 28, 201016 yr For the INS, I'm guessing this 4 part video tutorial is pretty accurate, providing the Simcheck version is as accurately modeled:Part 1 (see "related videos" for the other parts):
April 28, 201016 yr You can buy the real manuals for the A300B4-200, but you'd better hang onto your wallet as they are not what you'd call bargain basement priced - I know this because I bought some when researching the A300-B4 for the AVSIM review I did of that aircraft, and they cost me an arm and a leg LOL. Being that it is an older aircraft, they are also fairly hard to come across, so you might need to search for a few weeks on the 'net to get some showing up (as I had to).Smart Cockpit is bereft of much stuff on the older A300 incidentally, although if you can register with EADS (i.e. the real Airbus company), they can send you stuff, but you will have to have a good reason for doing so (when not doing all this flight sim stuff, I actually produce real Airbus manuals, so I was able to get away with doing that LOL, although what they sent me ain't that great to be honest). To get you started on your quest for the real manuals, you might want to try looking here: http://www.esscoaircraft.com/product_p/8157.htmAs you can see, stuff like that is not cheap and so you might want to look at other options. Another option would be the CLS 747-200/300, which has a tutorial available for its Carousel INS, and I'm fairly certain you can download the tutorial PDF even if you don't have the aircraft. If I recall correctly, I think it was written by AVSIM's Angelique van Campen. Several other FS aircraft have a similar an INS, and as a consequence similar tutorials (the BAC/Aerospatiale Concorde amongst others). There is also a freeware FS INS add-on kicking around on the 'net, which of course has a manual for it.Another useful source for learning about the A300 is the World Air Routes series of DVDs. Specifically, there are two of their DVDs which feature the older A300, although one of these DVDs is hard to come by, so the one I bought was the MNG Airlines one - 'MNG Airlines A300F4/737-400' (note that it is referred to in the DVD title by the Airbus designation A300F4, but it is the exact MNG B4 aircraft featured in the Aerosoft/SimCheck A300 package). Note that the well-known BA Concorde DVD that you can get has quite a good explanation from the flight deck crew on using the INS system, so that's worth a look too.Another useful source of info is the Airlife's Airliners book number 8: Airbus A300, by Gunter Endres. This is a fairly old book (first published in 1999), but you should still be able to find it on Amazon.com It's not big on heavy technical details, but is a good general guide to the aircraft. You might also want to try and get hold of a copy of Flight magazine from December 1976, which has a cutaway drawing of the A300-B4 in it. Or, to save you the trouble, here are some you can download:http://www.flightglobal.com/airspace/media...taway-6668.aspxhttp://www.flightglobal.com/airspace/media...taway-6667.aspxhttp://www.flightglobal.com/airspace/media...taway-6666.aspxhttp://www.flightglobal.com/airspace/media...taway-6665.aspxThis should give you an idea of the lengths we go to when reviewing stuff for AVSIM by the way, which is why it has the best reviews!Hope that helps - Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

April 14, 201115 yr That must go down as one of the best series of help I have read in these forums for a long time. Well Done all of you who contributed the answers, as I too run the A300B4-200, and found all your answers so fruitful. You guys embody the 'Espirit d'Corps' of this particular forum. Rick Almeida
