Featured Replies

I'm trying to install a gtx 480. When I connect the power the computer will not start up.It turns on, all fans running but my screen is black.Nothing shows. If I put back my "older" gtx 285 everything is fine. i7 975 proc, mobo is a rampage 2 extreme and corsair 950w psu.I'm stumped. How do i fix this ?ThanksVic

Do you have another PCI-e x16 slot? Try installing the card there. If it still doesn't work, it's likely a bad card. Just to be sure though, try the card in another system.

Do you think the card could be bad ? I mean its fan is working ok...

Yes, the card is probably bad, but you should test it in another slot and/or another system to know for sure. The fan being functional doesn't mean anything WRT the functionality of the card itself.

If you have a bad connection or forget to plug the additional PCIe power connectors in to the back end of the card, it'll do that, too.CheersBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO

Some times you have to go into the LCD screens menu and tell it which connection (on the card) it is running on, happened to me. Dell had to walk me thru the steps, I felt so dumb...On the other hand sincne then if I switch out a card and I forget which one it was on 1 or 2 I just switch the connections and bingo!

It should be on your Monitor panel,on below or on left/right side.
Yeah, that's a fair conclusion to reach after seeing 2 people with the same problem... Mush be widespread! :(
I had that problem with the original FSX retail version, but once I updated to SP1 it worked fine. Then the card died, and now I have an MSI 480 on the way!
