  1. Hey Guys,What would be the best laptop (I already have an i7 supercomputer) to run FSX and (mostly) Fs2004 under $1000. I would like to run REX and GEX/UTX and not have any stutters...I like the Asus G73JH, but it is a bit to high...Jeff
  2. I had the G73JH, but when I tried to use FSX, the video card crashed. Be weary...any issues, send it back. It is not fair to pay $1000+ and get a defective unit. Use it in the best of health!
  3. There you go, those marvell drivers are bad. I dealt with the same issue, and the only way NickN helped me resolve the issue was by uninstalling those drivers.
  4. How about the GTX 465? It is just about the same $ than the 275...
  5. Hey Guys,I am looking for a laptop, in addition to my desktop.I had an Asus G73JH laptop, but the GPU kept crashing. How would a Macbook pro fair with FS9/FSX?Can anyone who has one list their experience please. Thanks,Jeff
  6. Hey Guys,I am looking for a GPU for my new PC. I have already had trouble with the 5870 (Vsync, stutters), and some 480 issues (crashes, frequently).I am wondering whether to go 5970 or 480. Specs:i7-980X6GB DDR3 6-8-6-24 Mushkin RAMAsus P6X58D Premium1 X25M 80GB SSD (Win7 64)1 X25M 160GB SSD FS9/FSXNH-D14 CoolerTrying to decide whether 5970 or 480.I have seen some great 5970 videos with FSX on youtube...FSXelal
  7. Hey Guys,I already have a desktop for FSX, but want a laptop as well for work and travel.I had an Asus G73JH, but the GPU failed and it seems to be a common problem. I am willing to spend within 1600-1900....Any suggestions?Jeff
  8. I had that problem with the original FSX retail version, but once I updated to SP1 it worked fine. Then the card died, and now I have an MSI 480 on the way!
  9. Bob, the CPU is at stock speeds. With FSX, all 6 cores run at 100% load. I have NOD32 antivirus, and have disabled indexing and followed NickN's guide.
  10. Hey Guys,I just got an i7 980X, along with a EVGA GTX480SC and an Asus P6X58D Mobo. I did a fresh istall with Windows 7 64, and then installed all the software. Next, I followed NickN's Win7 optimization, and then defragged. Following, I started FSX and to my amazement, it ran like #$U#%*&! I then opened the task manager, and saw that the CPU was running at 100% (HT disabled) and the GPU was only at its 725/1400 when the cpu load was 100%. Prior to the tweaks, FS9 ran fine. I tried to take off in the default cessna- horrible! What do you guys think it could be? The memory is running at its correct timings, I have double checked the BIOS, I don't know what else to do!Jeff
  11. Which one would be better for me?I can OC the 930, so that is an option...I am just worried, $1000 for a CPU, will it deliver a great return? Specs;P6X58D MoboEVGA 480SC1TB 7200RPM HDD600GB SATA3 Vrapfsxelal
  12. DO NOT get a 5870 or 5850- if you are running Windows 7. Vsync doesn't work, and it will cause you nothing but trouble. I just had to return my 5870, and now a 480SC is on its way.
  13. Great thread guys!I just ordered a EVGA 480SC from TigerDirect yesterday. I should get it in the mail tomorrow, and then I'll report back with FSX tests. Yay!
