April 28, 201016 yr Moderator Hey guys, I saw a few pages down there was a fellow named Jim Hodkinson who had been doing a lot of really nice repaints. Unfortunately the fellow has taken ill and I hope he gets better. Until then, are any other painters here who would be willing to do a paint of the Brasilian airline Passaredo? I know that they dont really fly the J41 so it will be fictitious, but that is fine. Here are a few pic of it.Thanks in advance.Sean Campbell Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
April 29, 201016 yr Hi SeanThank you for your kind concern, it really is appreciated, I do actually feel a little bit on the brighter side at the moment, a case of good days and bad days, which we all have from time to time, so it is a case of on with the show.I have to admit that the scheme you have requested is in my own humble opinion a really good one for the J4100, so I though it deserved at least a try, so here is a shot of the first draft, now I have to tweak the scheme a little bit more, and add the fuselage logo if I can find a clear shot of exactly it looks like, which I will be off to find out shortly, but if this is something like the scheme you are after, then if you could just give me a day or two, I am sure that something can be done.Anyway here is the work in progress shot, and thank you again for the concern.Jim Hodkinson
April 29, 201016 yr Author Moderator Hi Jim. I just checked in to the forum and saw that you had posted a response with a picture. I'm glad to see that your feeling a bit better. It's none of my business, but I hope that what ever health problems you are having your doctor will be able to either find a cure for you or make the ailment a lot more managable.Anyways, the preview shot you did really looks great. It amazes me how talented and QUICK you are with a virtual paint brush. The only thing I have ever even attempted to paint was the Cera Bell 412. Their paint kit is fairly easy to use for beginners, but I still struggle with complex patters like the ribbons on this paint. One of these days I may download the paint kit for this bird and give it a shot, but right now I am more interested in getting a handle on flying it well before I even attempt to paint it, lol.If you need more pictures of that plane and paint I found them on airliners dot net after doing a search in the column on the right for that airline. I am pretty impressed with the first draft. The only thing I would do is maybe darked the yellow a tad and add the PAZ logo and little squiggly lines above it to the right side of the main door on the left side of the plane. Aside from that it looks spot on.The EMB-120 is a pretty similar looking plane to the J41 so I figured it would be a good one to do this fictional paint. Thanks again for doing this for me, I really appreciate it.Regards,Sean Campbell Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
April 30, 201016 yr Hi again SeanThanks again for the concern, it really is appreciated. The reason for this post is that I did try to send you a PM with a download link for the latest incarnation of the J41 Passaredo repaint, but your PM inbox is full, as I was wondering if you could possibly have a look at the repaint if the flesh so to speak, as screen shots are all very well but it when she is in the sim itself that is the important bit, so if you would not mind doing a little bit of Beta testing here is the link for the V1.00 repaint.http://www.filefront.com/16309119/J41_PASS_01.zipLet me know, either by PM or here in the forum, what you want me to tweak, change, add or remove, and I will try my best to assist. As for repainting, it can be made a lot easier with a well thought out paintkit, and to be honest the J41 kit is one of the best I have come across, added to which we have a great tutorial that has been posted on the forum, along with a helpful bunch of members that can be called upon if you hit any problems.Take care, and have fun.Jim Hodkinson
April 30, 201016 yr Author Moderator Hi Jim, I downloaded the paint earlier and just now installed it to try.It looks PERFECT and spot on. I cant see anything to change after viewing it in the sim.Thank you so much for doing this for me.BTW, I downloaded and took a look at the paint kit in GIMP, which is the only paint program I have. After looking at it, it looked like the way its layered it wont be too bad to paint after spending some time experimenting. However, since I downloaded all the paints you did a while back and now this one, I cant see myself doing any airline style paints, maybe just some private liveries. Although I may attempt a fictional Austrian Arrows. I was thinking of Air France also, but I saw a screen shot of that in this forum, I just need to ask the fellow where or how I can download it.Anyways, thanks again for your hard work.Best regards,Sean Campbell Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
May 1, 201016 yr Hi SeanGood to hear from you, it is also great to hear that the repaint is something along the lines you were after, although I may, and probably will change at least one thing I have noticed, which is the nose gear bay doors, to me they need to be a slightly lighter shade, this is about the only thing that can take some trial and error, at least for me anyway, so when I do update her I will post a new link just in case you want to try her out.It is also great news that you have decided to join the repainting ranks, you will I hope find that it is a way of getting even more out of flight simming, and even if it can be a little frustrating at times, it really is worth it when you have your creation up and flying in the sim, even if it is a reapaint that you have created only for your own use.If you ever need any assistance, you will always find somebody here who has gone through the same issues and will be willing to help.Thank you for both the feedback, and the kind words, it really is appreciated.Take care, have fun, and I look forward to your repaintsJim H
May 1, 201016 yr Hi SeanJust to let you know that if you want to update the Passaredo scheme that has changed the nose gear door to a slightly lighter colour, then here is a fresh download link for the full repaint..http://www.filefront.com/16327843/J41_PASS_02.zipYou don
May 1, 201016 yr Jim,Thanks, you did a really great job on this scheme. I love it. I don't fly much in Brazil but I think this would make a terrific private livery. Would it be very difficult to remove the "Passaredo" and flag, and change the ID to an "N" number? Thanks again. :( Charlie - KSBP Charlie FelixIntel Core i7 7700k @ 4.8 GHZ OC, Gigabyte Z270x G7 mother board, 32GB DDR4/2666, 1000 Watt power supply, GTX 1080i-11GB, 512GB & 1TB SSDs, 2TB HDD, Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)
May 2, 201016 yr Hi CharlieGlad you like the scheme as much as I do, as for changing the registration and removing the PASSAREDO text, it is not a problem, I have already done a UK registered version for my own use, so just let me know what registration you would like on her, and I will make the changes, upload it and give you the download link for the files.Jim Hodkinson

I will download it and install the new textures in the morning. I've been up pretty much all night flying this thing around the US, much to the dismay of my girlfriend, so I will give it a go in the morning. Thanks again.Sean Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
May 2, 201016 yr Hi SeanWhilst I appreciate the enthusiasm for flying the J41, you should always try to take some off duty time to socialise with your First Officer and Cabin Crew, but there again, after being engaged more than a few times and divorced once I am probably not the best person to take advice from.Jim Hodkinson
May 2, 201016 yr Jim,Thanks for offering to do a US private variant. Any number would do but I guess that N4100J might be a logical choice. Thanks again.Charlie - KSBP Charlie FelixIntel Core i7 7700k @ 4.8 GHZ OC, Gigabyte Z270x G7 mother board, 32GB DDR4/2666, 1000 Watt power supply, GTX 1080i-11GB, 512GB & 1TB SSDs, 2TB HDD, Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)
May 2, 201016 yr Hi CharlieHere you go..http://www.filefront.com/16343563/J41_N4100J_01.zipI hope you have as much fun with N4100J as I had painting her.And thanks again to Sean for finding the colour scheme, and by the downloads a few other people like the scheme as well.Take care, and have fun.Jim Hodkinson
May 3, 201016 yr Author Moderator Hi Jim,I downloaded the update and the other one as well. They both look really great and thanks for doing them.I really hate to ask since you already did one paint for me, but would you consider doing one more of the OceanAir in the red like the pic below? If not, I completely understand, especially since your not feeling well. Below are some pics in case you say yes.BTW, I am probably not the one to ask relationship advice either. I've been married and divorced twice, lol. Now, I prefer to just have a girlfriend and not a wife, makes parting ways a whole lot easier. :( Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
May 3, 201016 yr Hi SeanNot a problem I honestly would not mind having a go at this one, mainly because it is more interesting when you are doing a repaint that you actually like yourself, it may be a day or two though, I will try for this evening or tomorrow, once again you have picked a nice colour scheme, simple but effective, I like it.As for relationships that is an area that is so full of land mines that I will not even attempt to go there, but as you got in a full evenings flight time you seem to be doing OK.Take care, and back as soon as I have something.Jim Hodkinson
