heavy iron with rain effects?

Featured Replies

Hoping around Orbx PNW and the Caribbean in the amazing RealAir Duke got me thinking, I miss the windshield rain effects. My favorite iron, PMDG 747X doesn't have it. What high quality big iron airplanes have rain effects?

None that I know of. Even though its not a "heavy" I just got the PMDG J41 and it has them. After flying it for a week now I remember how much I really like the rain on the VC windshield compared to not having them. Hopefully they put the rain effects in the upcomming NGX or at least have them as an option we can turn on or off since some dont like them. Frankly, I will be disappointed if the NGX doesn't have them.I was wondering, since the Flight1 VC Rain fix tool is available to make them usable in FS9 portovers, I wounder if it would work in the LDS767 since it was originally developed for FS9?

Oh, this again... :( The "Flight1 VC Rain fix tool" does NOT enable the VC Rain at all. It merely replaces the real VC Rain bitmaps (all 32 of them!) with transparent dummy bitmaps, to eliminate the completely black (non-transparent) windshield glass. The actual "fix" is to either download the FS9 VC Rain bitmaps from the FS-Insider site, use Joe Binka's vcrain.zip file available here at AVSIM, or copy/paste all 32 bitmaps from FS9 into FSX.Further, FSX does not directly support "VC Rain" in FSX built models. Instead, it is necessary to do as "Lotus" did with his L-39 model, and script one's own "display conditions" and use custom made bitmaps.

The only aircraft I've seen that had rain effects on the windshield in FSX was the original CS-757, before the systems release (Block :(, and then only with FS9 VCrain files. Without them the glass grayed out. The current version does not have this effect.

Thanks
