Best way to improve GA traffic?

Featured Replies

Looking for the best way to improve GA traffic. Ultimate Traffic and My Traffic both claim to improve GA, but the product websites don't show any shots of the GA traffic. Do they use their own GA aircraft models or just add more flight plans for the default ones? I'm also aware of Ultimate GA, but it seems to be long on corporate aircraft and short on the light pistons that you'd normally find at your local airport. Seems like there could be a strong niche for a good, comprehensive GA traffic package :( Until then, what should I use?-Scott

Well Mr Renk says about My Traffic X (2010 is similar):"Airliner, General Aviation and Military Traffic - With MyTraffic X you get yourself the only AI Traffic generator that treats all three types of aviation traffic with the same priority. And not only for current schedules, even going back in history to the beginning of the jet age is possible for owners of FSX professional edition.4500+ Liveries - MyTraffic X includes well over 4500 aircraft liveries and this number will keep growing, coming from more than 1900 different airlines (among them military units located at their home bases).170+ Aircraft Models - From Boeing to Yakolevs and Cessnas to Embraers, MyTraffic includes them all. All models are created with GMAX optimized for high frame rates even at very busy airports. Most of these aircrafts have been overworked in GMAX specially for FSX, to remove display errors as well as to increase performance beyond the one offered by Microsoft stock planes."You can see more here: http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=64241I'm happy with the mix of tubes/GA/military that I see with MTX. Framerate friendly, some very nice models, some still a little old school, it's fair to say. Perfection is going to kill fps anyway. But I know there are many here who will suggest UT, which I don't have, so can't comment on.

I have UT2 so I can comment on it. They recently updated the dailty traffic file which add a LOT of GA. Here is a quote from them and a few screen shot examples from their site."Ultimate Traffic 2 daily traffic database has been updated. This new database will replace your existing daily (general aviation) traffic with a completely new set of flights.Information about the database.1. Amount of flights each day has increased from @200k to @435K2. Many aircraft now set to fly around the local pattern only3. Aircraft on longer flights will use an actual flight plan and not fly direct. The database was constructed by assigning an aircraft to each GA parking spot in Flight Simulator X. These aircraft were flown throughout the day to conform to operational times consistent with real world GA aircraft. If there were any times throughout the day when a parking spot sat empty for more than an hour, its was 'overloaded' and had a local pattern aircraft added to it.Some screen shots showing the GA throughout FSX..."

I use MyTrafficX and I can tell you with 50/25 commercial/GA in FSX, you will not be want for company in the skies. I use RC4 and they are always telling me of traffic to look out for. When I ran 80/80 I was getting go-arounds too much for my taste.

Thanks for the replies! It looks to me like MyTrafficX has the features I'm looking for, but the aircraft textures seem to be of low quality compared to UT2 (for both GA and airlines).Ultimate Traffic 2 appears to use all default GA aircraft, which must be killer on framerates. BUT it has the little utility that, apparently, allows you to add/modify the aircraft used for AI, so I could try swapping in some low poly models...Which leads me to my next question: Is anybody using the HTAI Cessna package with FSX? Are the models compatible (props showing up correctly, etc)? Bummer that the Piper package was never released, the project looks dead in the water since the last update was back in '06... Any thoughts?-Scott
