PMDG products, HDD space required

Recommended Posts

Hey, getting round to reinstalling my 747X, just wondering how much HDD space is required? on the back of the (aerosoft) box it says 150MB. I don't believe this is right. Anyone know how big it is? Also, couldn't find this information on the PMDG website, and wasn't on the J41 or MD11 pages, maybe this could be added under the system requirements for said products? thankyou,

Why couldn't 150MB be right? Not including liveries, that seems reasonable. Afterall, the simulator is still FSX and the 747X is an aircraft with textures, some dll files and the navdata files. What you expect?

If your harddrive is more than 80% full you may have performance problems, not just MSFS but everything might be slowed down.

The large files are the models, sounds, and textures. The systems code itself (which is in the dlls) is very small in file size actually, text (which is what code is) doesn't take up a lot of space at all.

According to my control panel in vista, it is 16.9 GB, but yet i haven't used 16.9 GB installing it, according to the HDD in mycomputer, weird.

I wouldn't go by that; it's grossly inaccurate.

Yeah, that's a long standing bug in Windows where it reports the entire size of the containing folder, not just the particular thing you're concerned with.

Ok, thanks all. Could i re-emphasise my point about putting the HDD space required under the system requirements for each of your products, this would be very useful when others and I come to purchase.

It's variable though depending on how many liveries you install etc. Pretty sure no product we make is over 200-300MB though total.

ah ok, i just meant the size of the file(s) you download when you purchase would be useful to have there :)
