May 10, 201016 yr The EU recently added all air carriers certified by the authorities in the Philippines and in Sudan to the list of airlines banned from operating within the EU.The full list is here:http://ec.europa.eu/transport/air-ban/list_en.htm Gerry Howard
May 26, 201016 yr Some of Iran Air's types were banned too.. :(The thing that always bothers me, is that while the European Commission makes good progress in keeping their air safety space by preventing airlines that lack safety standards, some (if not the majority of them) airlines have a poor safety record over the past 50 years. May 26, 201016 yr Where do you get the idea that the majority of European airlines have a poor safety record from? That's just not true at all.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
May 31, 201016 yr It's the same thing as having illegal truckers coming across the borders with bald tires and poor brakes. Would you drive in front of these trucks with your kids in the car? "Caution is the elder brother of wisdom"
June 1, 201016 yr Hello,That's great. Is to be know that the majority of those airlines never operated scheduled commercial flights to Europe countries before the ban.Regards.Gus.
June 1, 201016 yr Philippine Airlines :(-Paul Garrote-I read an ATW story on that same issue. Seems like Philippines is turning things around (not to mention the entire country's aviation safety apparatus) and is looking for a repeal of their ban. The FAA downgraded them concurrent with the EU ban, though...interesting to see what happens.
June 1, 201016 yr It's the same thing as having illegal truckers coming across the borders with bald tires and poor brakes. Would you drive in front of these trucks with your kids in the car?In Europe that was the case, but is now vice verse, the old East Europeans have with EU support and money better trucks than the West, but underpaid drivers, knowing nothing, disobay any rule..I always keep a lot of distance from them!Johan
June 2, 201016 yr Where do you get the idea that the majority of European airlines have a poor safety record from? That's just not true at all.AlLucky guess. Most of the large airlines, the ones that have been gracing the skies for more than 60 years, have crashed so often that I can consider them to have a poor safety record. If that isn't enough, check BA's history, starting from its BOAC/BEA days till today on Wikipedia.
