May 14, 201016 yr Just got a Dell XPS Studio I7 860 2.8 with a Radion HD 5700 video card. This is to replace my old Dell. Tried things out with the Captain Sim 757 and was getting 3 FPS ! This is with the same sliders that was getting me high teens / 20s on my old rig. All things being equal, I figured I should see performance improve, but now I'm wondering if I have Made A Terrible Mistake. Where to start?

Where to start?I have no idea about your video card-but I upgraded about 6 months ago and had the same shocking experience. Then I took my old video card out of my old system which later I found was actually a little superior to that that was in the new system even though everything about the new system blew away the old. I replaced the video card-a whole new world!I spent a whole week trying this and that and it was the video card that shipped with the new system that caused all my troubles-you might want to start there. Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
May 14, 201016 yr Author Yeah, I bet it is the video card. I can watch the 757 being rendered bit by bit onscreen only slightly more slowly than Boeing built them.
May 14, 201016 yr The Radeon 57xx series doesn't bode well for FSX. I honestly don't know why. You'd want a 58xx series card to get much better performance.Personally though, I'd go with a GTX275 isntead. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 14, 201016 yr Author I have a GTX480 on order. Nothing like solving a problem by hitting it with a lot of cash. We'll see.

Where to start?I think this is your system at the following link and, if it is, it's not getting any rave reviews regarding just plain gaming, let along FSX gaming: http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/dell-stud...7-33799671.html.Best regards,Jim
