May 16, 201016 yr although atc is awesome, ive also used PFE and i actually didnt like it at all. i think default atc is simpler and better. the only thing stopping me from using default atc is this. when i build my flight plan in fsbuild. i export it to pmdg747 and fs2004. i open fs2004 and laod the flightplanner than load the flightplan i just made. but if i use this i can onyl start on the runway. there is no option to let me start from the taxi gate. if i change to start at taxigate then i have to click after findroute and it makes its own flightplan up and doesnt use mine. is there a way around this?

It is not remotely realistic in any sense shape or form. None of the add on ATC programes are 100% but PFE comes closest and has a good variety of voice sets which don't sound computerised. Firstly a flightplan is from airport to airport NOT gate to gate!!secondly PFE's P2 will guide you to the runway from your gate or stand to the rwy holding point. It also allows for full comprehensive use of SID's and STAR's. I would suggest you try it again but make sure you are running vers. 2.14.vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA

Start FS9 and select your aircraft and gate, and go there.2. Load your flight plan.3. When it asks whether you want to move to the start location of the flight plan, answer "no".4. Your aircraft will stay where it is and your flight plan will be active. You can now call ATC for instructions.Hope that sorts it for you.John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
May 16, 201016 yr What I would do if I exported my flightplan from FSBuild to FS2004.I would quickly write another plan with the FS flightplanner from the departure gate I want to whereever. Then I would open the exported flightplan with notepad and add the departure gate coords. (replace departure_id, departure_position and waypoint=0)I do not actually use FSBuild but I write a realworld plan into FS Flightplan format and add the dep gate coordsI write the SID's waypoints into my FS flightplan ......if there are alt constraints in the SID I do not contact the next station until the last waypoint in the SID that has an alt constraint.I never accept vectors to the ILS or whatever but always ask for whichever approach is required (ILS, RNAV, VOR etc) with a transition. So in other words I know which STAR or transition (IAF) I will be using. (I always use real weather) so that is written into the FS Flightplan also.If the STAR, transition or approach is not in the FS database I will write it.And that is why I like the FS ATC ...the database and approaches are updateable by me and it looks after my AI.I would like different accents in different zones but hey to be able to update the database and approaches has gone a long way to extending the life of FS9. May 16, 201016 yr ok john that sounds good i will try that. i cant remember being asked if i wanted to move to the start of the flight plan but ill see if it works when i get home.PFE is alright, but for me it sounds computerised. fs atc doesnt imo. yeah it sucks not having different accents. and i do like you can fly stars and sids in pfe etc. but i dont think its worlds apart from default atc. right now, i will use fs9atc, and i am also learning to use vatsim, just need to buy a headset. thanks for the help.
May 17, 201016 yr I had the same problem..the easiest way around it is this...1. Open your FS2. Select your aircraft 3. Select your airport and gate/parking/cargo whatever you like4. Click fly now..this will put you where you want to be...5. Click Flights and Flight planner..6. Click open flight plan and find your plan..click find route and it will give you the FS route again..do not click ok..7. Click load again and find our FSBUILD flight plan. 8. When you hit fly now..click no when it asks your to move your aircraft to exact location...You should be all set to go :)Hope this helped..it sure helped meJason, Janusz Wozniak
May 17, 201016 yr ...so that is written into the FS Flightplan also....If the STAR, transition or approach is not in the FS database I will write it.how on earth do you do write weather in the FP and update FS database ?
May 18, 201016 yr As far as updating the FS9 database goes there are numerous ways to do that. Using FS9 ATC or not makes no difference to that at all. And, once again a filed flight plan is not from gate to gate. The crew enter the gate coordinates only to align the INS.vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
May 18, 201016 yr once again a filed flight plan is not from gate to gate. You are correct it is not. But I find putting the gate in my FS flightplan is a very good way of setting up my aircraft at exactly the right spot should I want to make the flight again....which invariably I do.In fact the Afcad parking is not always spot on, so I get my aircraft in exactly the right position and then write a plan for my departure position (the flightplan will remember the exact position not just the gate) :( My FS Videos
