May 24, 201016 yr Here is what I would suggest for a high end FSX system with a healthy, yet reasonable budget:A good, roomy, high airflow case (I have the Cooler Master HAF 922)Intel core i7 930 overclocked to 4.0Ghz+Corsair H50, Venemous X, or Noctua DH-14 cpu cooler ASUS or EVGA mobo, 1366 X583x2GB DDR3 1600Mhz memory CAS 7 or 6NVIDIA GTX 470 Corsair or OCZ 650 watt PSU WD Velociraptor 10000rpm hard drive for FSXWD Caviar Black 7200rpm hard drive for OSWindows 7 64 bitMy estimate is that this equipment list will end up somewhere between $1600 and $1800. May 24, 201016 yr Okay, looking at those videos, maybe I am setting the bar WAY high. So lets say i did want 25-30 fps new york, what's the cost going to be? Would a i7 950 be better, or an AMD hexa core?

Would a i7 950 be better, or an AMD hexa core?Going beyond an i7 930 is not needed, they all will overclock about the same. My i7 920 overclocked to 4.4Ghz and is 100% stable with the addition of my Mushkin memory.25 - 30fps over New York is going to require most likely lowering the image complexity and autogen to dense, and water @ 2.x low with no AI traffic. You are best to let specific fps numbers go and just look for smooth, fluid motion. Shane Gavin
May 24, 201016 yr Still here Don't look at my Sig . This day 930 ( price a bit different from 920 ) is worth for FSX , audiohavoc guide you completely . You can overclock to 4.0+ GHz . Save your buck for good cooling system.AMD hexa core use dual channel memory not triple channel like i7. Remember FSX need high bandwidth , many many data transfer all time.cheer.

I can understand if new york isn't totally smooth. This is my specs also with 9800 GTX graphics card. Lame system, how could I update my MOBO and processor?
May 24, 201016 yr Update, I just installed the 257.15 nvidia driver, set my vertex threshold to 256k, and reduced my water to 2.x low. I was able to get around 20 fps over New York in the CS 757 now, and 21 fps on the ground at KJFK. Shane Gavin

May 24, 201016 yr I get about 14 in ORD facing the terminal with 50% traffic lol! | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 24, 201016 yr How many frames do you usually get in chicago/detroit/miami, what do you geT?I usually manage 25 fps locked about anywhere in the U.S. New York is the only place it get's dragged down. In other parts of the world, I do not have UTX and GEX, so I get 25 fps locked. Shane Gavin

May 24, 201016 yr Why locked at 25 and not 34?Because it reduces the load on the CPU and GPU, allows for more resources to be allocated to texture loading, and the overall experience is very smooth at 25 fps, so I simply don't see the need to go higher. Shane Gavin
May 24, 201016 yr cool. and how much was your system?Around $2000 USD, but you could cut that a few hundred dollars by going with a GTX 470 or ATI 5850, and foregoing the solid state drives. I would honestly try and budget around $1600 dollars for a high end FSX home build, not including monitor(s), speakers, controllers, etc. Shane Gavin

The power supply i forgot to mention is something like 600 EDIT: Found I would love to have performance like that, same graphics too
