June 6, 201015 yr I would like to move the GPS in the default 172 but I really don't know what I'm looking for in the panel.cfgWhen the GPS pops up on the panel,it is slightly covering the heading Gauge and slightly covering the Nav radio.I would like to move it down a tad and to the right a tad. I think it's probably very easy, but I thought I'd better ask before I got myself in a jam. Thanks for any help !!skip

June 6, 201015 yr Author Which Version - FSX or FS2004 ??oops...sorry.Opa..FSX Standard Ver.Oh,and by the way I may have forgotten to mention but I don't have a BUILT-IN gps on the panel. It's a pop-up whenever you push the panel icon.....that's when it keeps popping up in the inappropriate place..Vista Home 64bit;Q6600 2.6ghz;9800gt;4gb ram;REX;GEX;UTX usa-can:FSDiscover:Scenery Tech
June 6, 201015 yr Commercial Member Search for panelcf2.zip on flightsim.com. Although I wrote it originally for FS98 and I've never updated it since, it does give you a basic overview of sizing and positioning gauges on the 2D panels in all versions of FS and CFS. -Dai

When satisfied with the size and position, Right click again and de-select the "undock" option. The GPS will come back to whatever you set when you toggle it on and off.I believe this will only "stay" while you are using the aircraft - it will revert to the original size and position if you select another variation. If you wish to experiment with the panel.cfg. make a backup of it first - and then experiment with the following lines in RED:[Window02]size_mm=456,378window_size=0.5position=8BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0VISIBLE=0ident=GPS_PANELzorder=4The "position" entry is the relative position on the screen. The screen is divided into "segments"0--1--23--4--56--7--8so the 8 position is the lower right part of your panel.Hope these ideas are useful.
June 6, 201015 yr Moderator I actually find these entries easier to use:window_size= 0.770, 0.432window_pos= 0.000, 0.040These are percentages of screen size/position.For example the window is:77% of the screen width and 43.2% of the screen height. The position parameters are relative to the top left corner, so the window is:0% (left edge) and 4% (down from the top) Fr. June 6, 201015 yr Moderator Excellent bit of advice Bill --------Just curious (before I experiment with it).......... if you use your method, do you just comment out the "position" line? There's no need to, as these entries override the position= data anyway...This is actually what FS Panel Studio does whenever you use the GUI to size/place a sub-window. But of course it can easily be done manually as well. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
