Key problems using RC in FSX

Featured Replies

Hi guys,I just installed the version 4.3 for FSX and it seems I messed it up. During the installation I didn't realised that I installed the program on C: but I have installed the game in D:So I found a modules folder in C: which I copied it's content to the modules in FSX (not FSUPic file because I have a newer version already installed). When the program asks me to find the files and to start searching for Airports/Runways everything is fine, I told the program the route where my FSX is in my case D:\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X and everything went well.Once in the gate, (with the flight plan loaded and started in RC, and also in FSX) I can see the dialog box, and also can set the radios to hear the ATIS but when I want to click the other option for clearence I don't hear anything, also the keys don't work, I press ctr shift L to set the radios automatic but it don't work, also I try to hide and unhide the dialog box but nothing happens. If I try to click the key number 1 or 2 nothing happens. I also noticed that on the top bar in FSX didn't appear anything related to RC just FSUpic button.I hope somebody can help me.Roca.

why not spend the 30-40 minutes re-installing. it might takes hours trying to figure out how to make this setup work. it will be much cleaner going forward, to have a good install.jd

First what do you have on C: that has a modules folder? Do you have another version of FS? If so, you need two installs of RC in separate folders. Now since this is a new install in your FSX/modules folder download the newer versions of MakeRunways 4.41 (it goes in your FSX folder) and FSUIPC4 4.60 (self installing but monitor that it goes into your FSX/modules folder) from:http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlMake sure you have the RC paths set correctly and again each when doing a scenery database rebuild. With RC but not FS up go into the key assignment menu and insure you have them set for assignments that do not conflict with any other add-ons, FSX, or models themselves typically those that have FMC hot keys. In PMDG aircraft, for example, if you have the FMC keyboard input option on, RC will not receive your key strokes. In general, RC will not respond to keystrokes unless your FS window has focus (is active), not the FSUIPC window. Click on the main panel window to activate it, not the FSUIPC RC window. If you have dragged that RC window be sure to click back in the FS window to keep it active. Also, in your FSX/modules folder if advdispl.dll is installed rename the extension to .dxx to deactivate it unless another program requires it (probably not). This insures that RC output goes to the FSUIPC window.

Hi all,I tried what ronzie said: Downloaded the makerunways 4.41 (added to the main FSX folder) also the new FSUIPC 4.60 (to the fsx modules folder) I did a database rebuild and added the FSX location D:\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X. I also set up all the controls in RC everything selected CTRL + Shift and the numbers and letters also I checked that no key is used in FSX. Also I renamed the file advdispl.dll to advdispl.dxx.But the problem is the same, the window appears but I can't do anything... I have the key assignment in RC CTRL + Shift + P which is the Flight Plan Display command, but what my surprise was that once I typed that in FSX it opens a pop up saying Open Recorded flights. Also I checked that NO CTRL + Shift + P key is used in FSX :( Hope you can help me.

Hi Roca. You should have just tried everything out before moving the files about.I have FSX on drive C and the RC4,3 folder on D and everything works without any problems. My advice would be to do a fresh install of RC4 and take it from that point.Norman
