June 12, 201015 yr I'm thinking of getting a 30" or larger HDTV and hooking up my computer to it.what do I need to look for?can I just do HDI to HDI? would this give me the best resolution or ??I will have a GEforce 470 Ciao!
June 12, 201015 yr Depending on your supplier, you should have got a miniHDMI-HDMI cable. Use that. If your supplier was cheap, you will need to buy a HDMI cable with miniHDMI at one end and normal at the other.
June 15, 201015 yr I got a 32" Samsung. It's great. However every now and then the tv won't sync to the video upon startup. I have to unplug the cable and wiggle everything around. After startup it works fine. I understand this is quite normal, looking at the net. When it works (most of the time) it's great. I have a GTX 280 with HDMI/DVI. I think HDMI/DVI is the way to go. I'm running 1080p. In the HDMI/DVI mode the special image sharpening really improves things. That doesn't appear to be available on just plain HDMI.

I have to turn off the TV then back on - then it will display the video. Is this what you mean by "normal?" | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
June 15, 201015 yr Yes. I find comments about syncing/no signal etc all over. My friends ATI does similiar things. Not really that bad, just a slight nusiance.I've found that the expensive HDMI cables work a little better. My Xbox also sometimes doesn't sync on startup. That setup is different TV etc. It was really difficult until I used a $50 monster cable. Now it's just some twitching on startup.
June 15, 201015 yr Author I'm thinkin' of just going with this:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16824009165I ask, because wouldn't it be cheaper to get a 32" HDTV and just hook it up to that? I think the above though would give me higher resolution correct?thanksBS Ciao!

June 16, 201015 yr Presumably, the reason for wanting a larger/wider monitor or screen, is to display FS across a greater portion of one's peripheral vision. If one then increases the eye to screen distance, nothing is gained. And the larger monitor will need a higher resolution which in turn burns up CPU horsepower.Better I think, to use multiple smaller monitors. Three 17/19 " monitors @ 1024 x 768 res., can produce a quality image- and at 26" from your eyes, will give a 45" wide picture with a 135-145
