June 14, 201015 yr Hello,I recently built a new PC that can run FSX relatively well. The FPS does drop quite lot in bigger airports but overall I'm happy with it. But I've been thinking about installing FS9 because I wanna run 100% traffic and now that REX is out for FS9, there's more incentive to do it. My questions are as follows:1) What's the proper procedure to install FS9 when FSX is already on the computer so they don't mess with each other? How about installing FS9 versions of addons from companies like PMDG if you have them running in FSX? 2) Other than REX, what are some of the must-have FS9 addons that improve its default scenery? Thanks in advance!Cheers,Nicolas Fulcrum One Yoke / FSProjects Airbus Side Stick, Honeycomb Bravo, Slaw Device RX Viper V2 Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, PNY RTX 5080, 48GB RAM

How about installing FS9 versions of addons from companies like PMDG if you have them running in FSX?Uninstall FSX, and leave it off... :(Seriously, some have reported problems with the two sims on the same HDD partition, I don't know that you'd be able to say in advance. 2) Other than REX, what are some of the must-have FS9 addons that improve its default scenery?OK I'll start: GE PRO, and then the best mesh you can get.
June 14, 201015 yr Nicolas,I had FS9 and FSX sitting side by side in XP SP2 and 3, and now in W7 64-bit, with no issues at all. There's no reason why they should interfere with each other - there are no common parts. PMDG and any other addons would be separate for each sim.;)
June 14, 201015 yr I haven't had any problems with FS9 and FSX installed on the same system. At one point I even had FS2002 installed there as well.
June 14, 201015 yr I, and many I know, run both versions on the same machine (often on the same HD) without any problems at all. They have nothing in common so there is no reason to expect any problems. The only "issue" I am aware of occurs if you un-install FSX. Doing that will almost always corrupt the FS2004 registry entry.Even that is not a major problem as the entry can be easily repaired using the free registry repair utility from Flight1.Go for it.
June 14, 201015 yr Author Thanks for all the replies! Are there any big name addons that don't work with Windows 7 64bit? How about airports from the AVSIM library?Regards,Nicolas Fulcrum One Yoke / FSProjects Airbus Side Stick, Honeycomb Bravo, Slaw Device RX Viper V2 Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, PNY RTX 5080, 48GB RAM
