June 15, 201015 yr After installing the 9 Dragons Kai Tak a few weeks ago and having been unable to resolve a couple of problems with some areas of the scenery, I thought I'd try here to see if anyone has seen something like this and knows the fix. I've already done a re-install of the scenery following verbatim the instructions in the activation and pilots guides. In some areas, notably around the under construction Chek Lap Kok and parts of the main harbour, the water textures are missing - these areas show up black. Other areas instead of water textures the original Microsoft land textures are present. I've included a couple of screenies to illustrate. It's most likely a settings issue - I've tried everything I can think of but drawn a blank, any ideas of what to try next.Regards,Fifty
June 15, 201015 yr Thanks for the reply altstiff, the 9 Dragons Kai Tak V2 is the only non european I have installed.Regards Fifty.
June 16, 201015 yr Clutch cargo visits these forums. Maybe he can help you out.It looks like you missed a step in the install process. Recheck that you did it all straight. Al Stiff
June 16, 201015 yr Commercial Member Hey FiftySomething -Did you perform a manual install (downloaded separate files and placed files/folders according to the manual) or did you d/l the version that has the automatic installer? Figured that would be a good place to start. If you did the manual install, I would strongly suggest de-installing that and d/l the version that the old "VOZ" team has set up. It's one download and it comes with an automatic install. The link can be found on my 9Dragons website:(http://www.milehighproductions.cwhnetworks.com/)But from what it looks like either some files did not get installed or installed properly or there is a conflict with some other addon. ClutchIt is the two addons conflicting. There is a fix. It has to do with VHHH and VHHX. The are several bldg files that need changing. Fix can be found in the AVSIM library if it was not corrupted.Carl Perry 7+ year sim pilot
June 16, 201015 yr First off many thanks for all the replies, in response to all the questions...No, I have not got Thomas Kwongs VHHH.The separate parts for 9D-Kai Tak V2 were downloaded from here and installled using the auto installer. They are enabled in the order shown in the guide set to the highest priority. The V2.1 update was also downloaded from here and installled using the auto installer. Most of the default Photo-Real is disabled including Hong Kong.As far as other scenry goes, I have a load of Mazzokans Italian Photo-Real terrains - that uses Italy Coast to correct the shape of some coastlines. Several ISD Italian airports, some UKMIL RAF Stations, Just Flight UK Photo-Real South East and South Central and that's about it.Hoping I'm not going to have to start over by re-installing FS9 and add everything back again - I'm just getting back to where I was prior to a HDD failure end of last year. Thanks again and regards, Fifty
June 16, 201015 yr Commercial Member Ok, I just did a search here in the file library and only one file of version 2 shows up which would mean the other parts were lost back during the "hack". Did you d/l these recently or before the hack occurred? That could explain a lot. :( Another thing to look at. There should be two files added in the main FS9/Scenery/Asia/scenery folder:HP978230-9D.bglHP978240-9D.bglWhile your down there the original FS9 files HP978230.bgl and HP978240.bgl should not be in there (we moved them during the install).Based on what you say, you could use the auto uninstaller that comes with it and start fresh with a new auto in stall from the VOZ site I mentioned. You should NOT have to re-install FS9, so don't! If need be I can walk you through it.Clutch Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!) June 16, 201015 yr Thanks for everyone for assisting - especially to Clutch, I'm extremely happy to report that it's all working now.I must admit I feel more than a little stupid having found the underlying cause. Described here in case anyone else is daft enough to have done the same and for the benefit of those generous souls who assist others when things don't work quite as planned. Several months ago I had (and then promptly forgotten I'd done it) disabled a whole load of the default scenery thinking 'I'll not be flying there so why keep it enabled' - amongst those disabled was Asia.On re-enabling all the default sceneries Kai Tak and the landscape around was showing as it should - congratulations due to Clutch and the team for producing such a magnificent scenery.'Humble' Regards, Fifty
